Pikmin 3 has already been confirmed as a Q1 release... It's Luigi we have to wonder about.

But we don't know when in Q1 it is going to release.

Right what I'm saying is We'll get a date for Pikmin 3. I'm not sure we'll get one for Luigi's Mansion 2

Nintendo's Wii U Facebook Page just announced a Nintendo Direct for the US 9am PST. The focus will be Q1 Game Release Dates for Wii U and 3DS.

For already announced games? So nothing new then…

EDIT: havent had a chance to get it yet. if anyone does, can they let us know how big the file is? i might have to wait on getting it if its a big update.

Do not initialize this update in system settings. It's downloading in the background automatically. You can check Download Management under the Home Menu if you'd like to know that it is, in fact, downloading. This way, you can carry out your Wii U business as normal.

Stability patch. Remember to just check it via download management, and don't actually initialize it like me. It should already be downloading.

My system is fully updated. It's about 586MB. I think it made apps like Miiverse, eShop, Bowser, etc a tad faster. WiiU Menu also takes shorter time to get to. Counted 10 seconds vs previous 30. At least, in my case.

thanks for the info. i think i might just wait on this since im not currently playing anything online or even have the Wii U online at the moment.


Edit: ninjaTOASTY, they had maintenance today for the eshops/wii shop, maybe they are getting ready for whatever is happening tomorrow for the Nintendo Direct thing.

Hm, maybe it is for set up for tomorrow. They did say NiD coming to 3DS late this year. I'd hope this is what's happening. Maybe a true universal eShop for Wii Shop and eShop... Not getting my hopes up though.

The 3DS update took almost no time at all, and I don't see anything different, even on the eShop. The Wii U update is taking awhile though.

my wiiu was off, so I started it via system settings. has 30min to go. Nintendo you need to get on this online infrastructure thing. An half hour to hour for 600MB is sad.

I wonder if they are doing real patches, or just throwing whole new versions of files on the system like the did with the wii.

If the later, then a basic system might fill up pdq.

edit: finished update. some things are quicker. but I counted 25 seconds from "close software" to to back to the wiiu menu. hitting the home button is basically just as quick. it feels they are waiting on network responses or failures for some apps. or maybe are doing weird write operations.

Considering Nintendo publicly said DLC hooks would come in December for certain developers (I believe that was it) this large update seems to fit that bill quite nicely I'd say. Considering it's also addressing system lockups and whatnot, I'd say it fits the other foot as well.

As for the Virtual Console, it's just a guess. It's Thursday. The day the shop updates every week. Considering there are 3 ND's, it means there will be joint announcements, most likely involving the eShop. Considering Thursday ND's result in 'hey, X is on the eShop RIGHT NOW' I'd say it's a fair guess that the Wii U Virtual Console is starting up soon.
