Wii U Virtual Console on the Gamepad

Postby LSF22 » 15 Nov 2012 00:22

not sure if i saw it confirmed before although im sure it was expected. On IGN they have an article talking about the lack of gamepad support for wii vc and wiiware games. but at the end, there is this little note:

Though providing no further details, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata did mention his company plans to create a Wii U Virtual Console that will feature full GamePad functionality.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/14/wii-u-gamepad-wont-support-wii-games

i wonder if we will be redownloading the same games or if they are being reworked/updated for the wiiu virtual console.

I'm pretty sure they'll update them eventually.

I can't wait to play GameCube games on the GamePad. (*I'm crossing my fingers for Sunshine)

yeah, i want to get Wind Waker again, but not for prices i see online. If they can offer some Gamecube games for $10-$15, ill be buying a few. Would also like to see Killer7 since i cant find it cheap either.

Man, if we have to buy the games again just to play it on the gamepad, I'll be speechless. Making Gamecube games on be playable on the gamepad is a must! I wouldn't mind double-dipping in SMS as well 8)

Not sure what potential the VC has outside of GCN games. I know that there are alot of games in the library (SNES) that Nintendo hasn't released yet but if they haven't by now I'm not holding my breath.

Actually Nintendo held back most of it's N64 library. Some of the gems we flat out won't get like Banjo-Kazoooie. But others are yet to be on the VC like DK64, and Goldeneye.

Screw playing them on the gamepad. I want to see them upscaled to 1080p! ;-P

I hope they put out more N64 games! Though if you remove all games that Rare did on the N64, the library is pretty week. I hope that all VC games will eventually get updated with gamepad support for free. I remember hearing that HD VC games will eventually be available and would either replace standard VC games or be available separately. HDClassics maybe?

Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, also Four Swords Adventures, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles GBA support on up to 2 GamePads!!!

Actually legal and license issues are tying up the original N64 GE. Since Bond is owned by Activision and Microsoft is still a rival to Nintendo (and Microsoft owns RARE), GE 64 probably is stuck in limbo forever in regards to re-releases on future systems.

I think that is why Activision went and remade GE creating GE Wii and later GE: Reloaded even if those games had little in resemblance to the N64 original.

I hate to reign on the 'GameCube games are obviously coming to the Wii U Virtual Console' parade, but...the GameCube had analog triggers, whereas the triggers on the Gamepad and Pro Controller are digital. That is a heck of a problem for emulation purposes.

umm... you mean aren't? I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to release a WaveBird 2.0.

The Wii U controllers are digital, which I've corrected. Ugh. So tired right now.

im sure it crossed somebody's mind at Nintendo of all the money they could make with Gamecube VC. they wont let that opportunity slip by. i think the number is small for games that took full advantage of the analog triggers. as for the "click" of the triggers, that could be the joystick clicks instead although it might be odd.

doesn't even need that. they just won't release games that actually used the analog-ness. for games that used the click(loved that btw) they will just use r2 and l2 for click.
