What on earth happened to "Panorama View" for WiiU?

I would be a cool little cheap/free app. They could have one or two photos/videos a month. It could work kind of like Nintendo Video on 3DS.

I think it may have just been incorporated into some games, like Nintendoland, among others.

I emailed Nintendo Customer Service a few weeks ago. Here's what they said:

Thank you for contacting us with your question. I'm pleased to report that Wii U Panorama View (working title) is, in fact, an actual game that is estimated to be released for the Holidays in 2012. You can find more information about this game on our website.

Probably a downloadable title; can't imagine this being retail.

I just think it's a unique experience my gran would adore... therefore it has a great purpose, However I'd rather hours of 1080p footage come on a disc... with free DLC experiences added each month. It would get her interest piqued in the WiiU.

And to @vertikal, since this is Nintendo we are talking about here, I suspect Panorama View will be released as both retail copy and Nintendo eShop download for either $49.99 or $59.99. But of course, I could be mistaken once more information about Panorama View is released.

I don't really see the appeal in moving the Gamepad around and looking through its screen, besides the initial novelty. Nintendo used similar tech in several 3DS launch titles, and while it's novel, it's clunky and impractical for sustained use. How many people are going to want to play console games by either standing and spinning around their living rooms, or sitting down in swivel chairs and spinning there? Some people have complained about Wii's motion controls being a bother and requiring excessive movement, but at least you could still use them while sitting on your couch.

They really should just make this a free app or make it a part of Nintendo's own app channel as a freebie for the month.
