"Is there a definitive way to Shut Off GamePad"

While playing New Super Mario Bros. U, my GamePad sits there running while not in use and i tworries me halp! But when I shut it off the Wii U system shuts down. I know you can shut off the display, but the Pad still drains halp!

Take out the batteries and start the system with the wii remote.

You could leave it in the cradle or plugged in while its not in use. When I use Netflix I put it in the cradle so when I want to use it it has a full charge. It would be nice to have a way to just use the Wii remote.

I agree. There needs to be a way to turn off the gamepad when watching Netflix etc.

I think the poster said the Display shuts off with that option, but it still loses battery because it is turned on/getting feed.

Pretty sure the Gamepad is part of the Wii U, just got to live with that I guess.

It would be nice. I always just plug it in the charger when watching netflix, but would love to be able to just turn it on and off at will while still watching something.

Theres no definitive way to shut down the GamePad unless you turn off the system.

Fun fact: If the system is off you can still press the TV control button. Just the GamePad (not the system) will turn on so you can change the channel or volume. Press the X on the screen and it'll turn right back off.
