Most disappointing game of 2012

What's the most disappointing game you've played this year (And if you're wondering, yes, it's THIS year). It doesn't necessarily have to be a bad game... Or maybe it does.

I have none. They were either good or Japanese shi+.

Tough call.
Planet Crashers is practically unplayable, but Heroes of Ruin was a massive letdown. Kingdom Hearts DDD had a terrible story and combat, but it was still somewhat enjoyable.

I'm going to say Heroes of Ruin.

Tough one to answer. Probably New Super Mario Bros 2 as far as Nintendo made games go, although from what I hear Paper Mario Sticker Star might be up there as well.

For third party games I have no clue, although the Epic Mickey reactions haven't exactly been great.

On the subject of Paper Mario: Sticker Star, I never considered it disappointing. I was hoping it was better than Super Paper Mario. It was, but only slightly.

The game ended up nowhere by the end... Thought it would pick up after world 1, but apparently it didn't. Makes the story, characters, gameplay, and game design suffer.

Oh yeah... I just remembered Metal Gear Solid 3D....

Most disappointing? I'm gonna have to say Heroes of Ruin. Now, while I've never even played the game, I'veheard nothing but disappointment from people who have, and reviewers alike.

The most disappointing game for me this year got to be The Darkness II. While the gameplay had its moments at times, it was quite repetitive and the story was weak. Also, worst cliffhanger ending ever.

NSMB2. I still liked it, but it wasn't as great as the other NBMB games, and the whole coin-collecting-thing just got tiring after you had finished the games, as you most likely weren't even halfways finished with what you had got that far.

I just wrapped up NSMB2. While I would say it's the most morally bankrupt Mario game ever (no new power-ups, too-much reliance on nostalgia) I think the challenge of the game saves it IMO. Collecting the coins really forces you to play the game unlike past Mario games. Sure, it was ridiculous when I finished the game with 247 lives, but remembering the tricky moves I had to do to get those lives made it awesome.

Now if only the boss battles could be as difficult as much of the platforming...

I would say NSMB2, but I wasn't really excited for it in the first place.

No for me the biggest disappointment was the excremental "Doom 3 BFG Edition". I like the original Doom 3, a lot, but this version not only didn't run on my PC, but when I finally tried it I found an XBox port with atmosphere killing changes and omissions to lighting and the flashlight, missing decals, blurrier textures, no mod support, no config options, censored Doom 1 & 2 levels all wrapped up in mandatory steam activation. No surprises a port this messy would come from Bethesda.

Now that we got that out of the way, and ignoring that I have played tons of demos of games I don't own, so I won't count them, I can happily say that none of these downright disappointed me.

Happy Wars and Dream Radar were things I had no or low expectations of, so they didn't go below my expectations. Happy Wars exceeded my expectations, but since the servers are abysmal, I can barely even play it. When I do, it's awesome and a lot of fun. Dream Radar honestly would have been more fun if I could see the Pokemon and if there was more to it. There's just nothing to DO after you get the legendaries, which makes it lame.

Sonic 4 Episode 2 I got for half price, and at half price, it was a great game. Way better than Episode 1. I liked it a lot.

The Last Story I still haven't played because I haven't finished Xenoblade because it got put on hold for a bit.

The rest all met or exceeded my expectations. Epic Mickey 2 did fall short of my expectations, however.

So I'd have to say "Epic Mickey 2" was the most disappointing of the bunch, but considering I still like the game, as frustrating as it is as a game, so whatever. Dream Radar is the true disappointment, but since I already expected it to be no good, it didn't really fall below my expectations.

I also snuck peeks at what I may be getting for Christmas, and this includes BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend, Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil 6. All 2012 releases. In addition, I will be getting Deadlight and The Walking Dead game during XBLA sales in a week or so.

Aside from BBCSE, which I haven't played (but I LOVED the original and completed all the achievements), I liked all the demos for each of those games. YEAH, EVEN RE6. So I am pretty confident I will have enjoyed everything I got this year in some form.

EDIT: But to be perfectly honest, the worst/most disappointing game of the year is AMY. If you haven't played the demo, go do so.

EDIT: Also I played the demo of RE6 and didn't like it but then my big bro bought me the full game and it was pretty fun..but it disappointed me a little because it's fairly short (not as short as RE5 but not as long as RE4). Once you complete the game not really much else to do if you don't have wi-fi. It was also disapponting to play certain parts of the game more than once due to the characters stories overlapping.

What do you mean not as long as RE4?

RE4 is 20 hours long at most the first time (but I remember doing it in like 10 hours on repeat playthroughs). RE5 I forget the first time, but it can be finished obviously less than RE4 .

I find it hard to believe that all 4 campaigns together took less than RE4 to beat on a first time run.

Have you played RE6 with the updated camera option? I don't have the game yet and I am excited because the camera angle was the biggest gripe I had with the demo.

I have three disappointments:
1) NSMB 2. It just doesn't hold water against NSMB U.
2) NoA ignoring Pandora's Tower for a US release.
3) 007 Legends. I had hopes of enjoying a new Bond game and Activision ruined everything forcing Eurocom to rush the game out which caused the developer's demise.

Oh wow. But I suppose Amateur explains that. So much for "omg 30 hours for the 3 campaigns" according to Capcom.

But yeah, same for me on RE4+Ada.

I usually play RE on Normal, so I wonder if it'll take longer. Though, RE6 also has those abilities and stuff, which must make it easier to plow through.

Maybe it's because I didn't play the first two Paper Marios, but I throughly enjoyed Sticker Star. Not as an RPG (because it's an awful RPG) but as an adventure game. It was a really good adventure game.
