Unfortunate Wii U owner has his Wii U replaced with a new unit, NNID transferred

Here's a bit of good news. One unlucky chap had a bricked Wii U. He sent it off to Nintendo and wound up getting a new unit in return. When setting up that new unit, it asked for his old NNID, email and password. This transferred his account to the new Wii U, but it let him know that he couldn't do this with another system. Looks like Nintendo can set you up with your old NNID in certain circumstances.

Unfortunately, this Wii U is also having issues, so he might have to go through the process all over again.

This is how it's worked since the Wii. Were people convinced otherwise?

Unfortunate Wii U owner has his Wii U replaced with a new un

That's kind of good i guess. He got a new Wii U and he didn't lose any of his purchases (according to the source). I wonder what kind of problems he has been having though.
Edit: i do agree that they should allow a transfer of accounts though, they should fix that as soon as possible

Once I wonder about the unit.
Twice I wonder about the user.

I just got mine back from Nintendo yesterday, but I won't be able to mess with it until Saturday since I'm up at college and it was shipped to my house. Glad to know I can take my NNID off of my brother's Wii U

I find it dumb that we can't just do it but I'm glad to know they're willing to change stuff for us if our system breaks.

My Wii U also bricked... on the first day, and I also had to send it in to Nintendo. Currently UPS has it, so I'll be getting it back in a few days, but I did notice that the serial number on the Wii U that Nintendo is sending me is different from the serial number of the one I sent them, meaning I'm also probably getting a new one.

No surprise, launch hardware is faulty most of the times.
