No it's not.
This game is a horrible game for online play.
Believe it or not online game play only works it certain genres such as shooters, sports, and racing.
RPGs, mini games, fighting games suffer with online play.
Now quit feeling entitled when it comes to getting online play.

really? Online play plain ole' "doesn't work" for certain genres, fighting games included? I honestly see no logic going on here. It's 2012, online play has just become a standard part of gaming. It's not being entitled at all, it's having certain base expectations from Nintendo.

"I don't think online play for NL would work - as it is now - it was built around the idea of local multiplayer [which thank god someone still supports].
There should at least be Bots for single players doing Group challenges, though. It seems as though last gen started dumping the concept for online focus..."
I completely agree. As much as I want online in Nintendo Land, the mini-games are definitely more orientated for local play. Luigi's Ghost Mansion is a perfect example of this. But like you mentioned, Nintendo should have included at least bots (or SOMETHING) for gamers who don't have friends or family who are willing to play at a moment's notice. Yet there are a few mini-games that are simply unplayable for some gamers because they only support multiplayer, and that's a shame. My family rarely ever wants to play, so I've only experienced those games a couple of times since launch, once was with me actually using two controllers and playing by myself.
