We don't have a confirmation on these numbers just yet, but I sure hope they're spot-on!

Wii U sales over 4-week launch period

- 1.8 Million units

Xbox 360 sales over 4-week launch period

- 940,000 units

PS3 sales over 4-week launch period

- 560,000 units

Wii sales over 4-week launch period

I think the numbers are pretty close. At least they are close to my guess. Other than the UK (which the wii U has been doing relatively poorly) the wii U has been doing really well. The numbers surpass the 360's and PS3's debut in the US and Japan (not sure about the UK). The Wii U's debut overall has been really good, but Nintendo needs to keep up the momentum.

Guys, I hate to break this to you, but the internet has already declared Wii U dead on arrival. Dan Hsu said it was a failure 2 days after launch because the analog stick is in a different position. Kotaku said it's not the console for sports or shooters because there aren't as many people online as the other systems which already have millions of users. Some guy I just saw on youtube said it was obviously a kid's system regardless of it having AC3 and Black Ops 2. Sales don't matter, it could outsell ps360 combined and Nintendo would still be in last place. It's over, Nintendo's doomed, soon to be a 3rd party if even that. Pack up shop and get ready for SMB on cell phones.

Its varying a lot by region, In the UK for example its sold less than the Gamecube did over the same period, when it launched.

It isn't doing poorly in the uk if you look at the rumored figures they planned to ship. They sold over 40000 in 2 days when rumors were saying they only had 25000 to ship. That is good.

When you factor that they are advertising 3ds more and people just aren't buying stuff here this is good. I'm surprised it sold out anywhere here.

people would be insane to miss out on the best console nintendo has delivered yet. Its just fun to play, even games i usually wouldn't bother with are more fun with the gamepad.

the wii u will be fine. if the miiverse community is anything to go by, people love their console and will share that excitement with people via word of mouth.

the fact that some critics said zombiu sucked, AND had bad graphics show just how crazy gaming media and culture has gone....

the game has massive depth, and rich visuals that give you a sense of doom and you actually feel like you are there. The visuals are amazing. not every game needs to be "shiny".

the gameplay of zombiu is pure survival horror, a true core game, and yet half the critics didn't even comprehend it.

Very, very scary times for the truth about games to be known. everyone, please be your own judge and critic, and give things a chance if you want.

Well. It would surprise me f true. I think that those who think it's an extra controller for the Wii etc are few now compared to E3 2011. Here in Norway at least people know very well what the U is. Of course, there are still people who will not get it because Nintendo consoles are for kids and other silly excuses. But I am sure I will get some to join the fun after I invite them over But there are also people who wants a Wii U who skipped the Wii era. The so called "hardcore gamers". People are slowly realizing that it's a next-gen (or now this-gen since it's already out, making the Wii, 360 and PS3 last-gen) console. It might not be such a hit hit as the Wii was, but I think it will sell petty well in the long term. And if this is any indication (and true) then it's of for a good start.

Well then they undershipped. Gamecube sold 75k in 2 days, Wii U has sold 70k in 3 weeks. Thats not a good sign.

I think the uk will go at the 'slow and steady' pace. The only gadgets people are buying here are i-things. I've put forward a test to see if it can sell more then 100000 in 10 weeks.

When things pick up and more games come out I think sales will suddenly shoot. I'm still disappointed to see 3ds and vita games not taking proper shelf space in my stores. Its sadly a much harder market to crack then it was in 2006. Overall I don't think its worth drama just yet.

According to VGChartz, all of this is accurate. The Wii U is doing exceptionally well, can't wait to see what the sales will look like by the end of January!

It's not surprising that it's not doing too well over here in the UK - it's £300 = almost $500. It'll sell more when the price drops (actually I see Amazon has already dropped £15 off the £300 it was at launch but the point still stands).
