If it were up to me, solely up to me, I'd let them finish up Legends 3 just so people can finally let it go.
But I'm certainly not 'the reason'. Capcom came out and said that they made the mistake of announcing the game sooner than they should have, and they got over-ambitious with the project. If anything, Capcom is solely to blame for it.
You can't blame me for it just 'cause I don't care that the project lived or died. I liked Legends. I never played Legends 2 or Misadventures, but I wasn't chomping at the bit for a Legends 3, so it kinda boggles my mind a bit that people are so eager to throw Capcom under the bus because they made a huge line of PR blunders, Legends 3's cancellation being one of them.
The fact that people continue to mindlessly dwell on what could and should have been just makes me scratch my head in confusion. What if they had listened to the fans, finished the game and it turned out to be terrible? Then who do you have to blame for that? I think it's better for everyone involved that they DON'T finish the game at this point, because of the kind of high expectations already there out the gate. Capcom is smart to avoid another huge PR disaster by restarting the project and having it turn out to be a terrible game, because it didn't meet expectations.
