Looking to bone up on your Japanese skills? Why not do so by playing Fire Emblem: Awakening? It has been confirmed that the North American version of the game includes another audio track in Japanese. It's up to you to pick which language you want to hear! Thanks to VGAMER for the heads up.

This is good, but I'm waiting for that Nintendo twist to it. For example, maybe once you pick one language option, the other one gets deleted immediately, forcing you with one choice for all eternity. And if you try to get a second copy, that first copy alerts the second copy, locking you out as well. And then when you go to the store, ALL OF THOSE COPIES have been alerted, ruining the game for everyone who shops there as well.

Pretty cool, but I hope this doesn't mean that it wasn't included due to a lackluster english dub.I remain hopeful it was included for the sake of having more options.

Having more options is nice. Xenoblade had both audio tracks and a fantastic British dub regardless.

This is a tough choice. I don't want to hear Marth in english. But I want to hear everyone else in english. What do?
Rhythm Game fanatic. DJMax, Taiko no Tatsujin, DDR, Rockband, Guitar Hero, Rhythm Heaven, Beatmania, and Pop n' Music. Amazing.

Fire Emblem: Awakening features dual audio voice tracks

Postby Brennan88 » 15 Jan 2013 17:51

I've only ever played the Sacred Stones GBA Fire Emblem game before. Has there ever been English voice acting in a Fire Emblem game before?

Can't wait for this game to come out in April for us in Europe and Australia. What is up with the 2 month delay anyway? Hopefully we do get the English voice acting too.

Well that's cool for those that care that much. Glad though. I'll stick to my own language, but I know people have that 'superior japanese' nonsense.

Options are never bad. And I mean, the English could be awful, so yeah.

THAT SAID- Will Marth be dual audio in Super Smash Bros. now?

Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Awakening does it much better, though.

MoldyClay wrote:THAT SAID- Will Marth be dual audio in Super Smash Bros. now?

Good question. I expect that Marth will at least be able to speak English this time around.

I think a lot of people prefers the Japanese audio, because in a lot of games and animated movies/series, the voice acting can be quite awkward. Lots of people who don't know Japanese probably likes it because it won't sound awkward since they don't understand it.

I think. Personally, it's that reason combined with that I just prefer things to be in their original version.

EDIT: Wait, I just realised it says 'in North America'... so... no Japanese Audio for Eorupe..? Say it ain't so..

This upsets me. He should stay to his Jap voices. It's been that way for 2 games now. T_T

The game's not coming to Europe until April, so none of the recent info that we're getting is actually referring to the European version. I imagine everything will be the same though, unless the English voice work ends up being different over there.

I kind of feel the same way. I'm very used to his original voice, so seeing it replaced by an English one will be something I'll be apprehensive about. I'm hoping for the best of both worlds, though. Can't go wrong with that!

Fire Emblem: Awakening features dual audio voice tracks

Postby DonnyDarko420 » 15 Jan 2013 18:29

Don't care. I never use Japanese audio when it's an option because I speak English. But I'm happy it's in there for those that do want it. Options are never a bad thing!

I'm really happy about this option, especially if Awakening continues the PoR/RD trend of having... less than ideal dubbing quality (although Awakening's seems fine from what little I've heard of it).

MoldyClay wrote:THAT SAID- Will Marth be dual audio in Super Smash Bros. now?

That's a good question. Possibly, possibly not. I think it depends on whether he was Japanese-only in Brawl due to the fact that he hadn't appeared in a translated Fire Emblem game, or because they didn't have an English voice actor for him. If it's the former, then he'll have an English voice due to Shadow Dragon's release in the US, but if it's the latter, then they might stick with the Japanese voice.

Good for the people who want the option, I guess. I don't understand why people would voluntarily create a barrier between the audio and what the game is actually saying, but whatever.

As far as Marth, I expect he'll probably speak this time. He has English text in both Shadow Dragon and Awakening, so he's no longer Japan-exclusive. It's kind of a pity, though - it made him unique, and was a nice reference to the fanbase's demand for a North American release yet hatred of actually daring to localize them. y;

Took years for Caeda and Archanea to heal, and now Awakening's DLC is going to start it all over again with Jugdral.
