Whenever I go to the midnight releases I prefer to just avoid everyone else and chill with friends. But the last one I went to was for Diablo 3, and that was because my friends were getting Max Payne 3 which was releasing on that particular day as well. But this is more or less accurate.

You're right. Maybe they thought if they used some other race it would be a "stereotype". It's a-okay to make fun of white people, though. Note that I'm white and have no problem with making fun of white people. I just don't like the double-standard.

No yeah regardless of race I think this guy should have drawn more variety instead of drawing himself wearing different costumes.

I see the that card played both ways. If you leave someone out you're ignoring them, put them in and you're making fun of them. Eh.

Even though I can usually take "geek" jokes fine, I still can't help but feel like the guy in the MLP shirt was too much of a cheap shot at bronies (like it's a forced joke rather than being anything relevant to the comic, like one of those random "hurr durr this movie/celebrity sucks" joke on Family Guy).

Last midnight launch I went to was RE6. The people there were mainly just people about my age (early to mid 20s), and only notable thing was that there were a few black guys there seemed to be showing a "fake gangsta" style. Otherwise I didn't really see anyone that was like this, not even anyone in a costume (also the employees didn't act like they didn't want to be there).

They're missing "guy who assumes no one minds if the wind blows his cigarette smoke in their face"

Sorry smoking gamers, you're in a line where other people may not partake in your vice. Wait a bit, f*ck.

Oh yeah I can relate to that. As someone who hates cigarette smoke, I'm tired of always having to stand behind or in front of some random smoker in line. =\

Dorkly Bits - People you might see at a midnight launch

Postby Johnknight1 » 14 Nov 2012 20:04

I live by a GameStop, so I've had to hear the "crowds" of people cheer for Call of Booty, Halo, and everything Blizzard and Rockstar make. The Call of Booty crowd is the worst, which isn't surprising at all.

The only time I ever waited in line for a game was Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And boy oh boy, most of those people didn't know diddly squat about smash bros. Seriously, two people argued if King Dedede was going to be playable, despite being confirmed as playable about half a year beforehand.

However, there were some people who were really knowledgeable about the series.

Also, this is sadly very accurate. Although, again, it is missing people who think they know everything about the game, but in all actuality, don't know anything about it.

Dorkly Bits - People you might see at a midnight launch

Postby Crow » 14 Nov 2012 20:39

Weird, havent seen ANY of these people before

Last midnight launch I did was Wii, and it was more like:

-Guys playing their psps alone
-Guys playing their DS's together (a mario kart tournament managed to break out in line)
-Guys shooting off fireworks
-People who are smart enough to realize that midnight launch is the only way youre getting a Wii by christmas.

I really wanna go to a big midnight launch someday. I've only been to one for Red Dead Redemption, but only did that for a copy of Alan Wake, which came out that same day. I wasn't part of the zeitgeist!

I only see these people in Xbox/PS-game/system lines...
Not being a Nintendo-fan-ignorant either: I go for midnight launches all the time, for any system.

Almost every Nintendo launch I've been to: Everyone was generally friendly (people saved spots for each other, everyone played DS games together, and some were even jamming out on guitars and some guy even handed out hot cocoa to people). The unfriendly ones were the ones who came in late.
Maybe it's just where I'm located... but the Nintendo fans down here are very friendly - and the UBER Sony/MS fans that are unsocial and hating towards the Nintendo fans never appear in those lines... I get the feeling they can't stand the "optimism" (though they just call it ignorance)...

Damn I didn't realized that they were like that. Almost like TheBitBlock except he is the UBER Nintendo fans hating towards anything that is not nostalgic or what he loves.
