You know how this works by now. Nintendo announces a new system, people say it'll fail. Nintendo actually launches that new hardware, people say the company and the system itself are doomed. Here's a well thought-out article detailing why all that talk is pure rubbish.

At this point, the Wii-U isn't doomed because the internet says it is. The internet's track record is atrocious.

Two screens, microphones, touchscreens, motion controls, pointer controls, all of it failed and that's why Nintendo didn't come out with a new home console yesterday. I mean seriously? The GBA wasn't even a media player. How could Nintendo hope to compete?

A good, informed article. This entire RAM debacle is getting stupid. People basing off all info by just LOOKING at the RAM brand. Nintendo has always been keen on using really fast RAM, and this doesn't add up. Time will tell people, and we all forgot what first YEAR 360 games looked like... well, they looked LAST GEN. A VERY normal launch people. Wii U is gonna ROCK.

RRoDs... Overpriced Hardware... Hackings... Gold Subs... Point Systems... Less Focus On Games, Than Social & Or Multimedia Content... BC Taken Away...

Gotta love all the flaws the other systems had [or still have] being spirited away for the launch of a new Nintendo system by the typical 'hardcore' folk, eh?


On topic: Good article. It puts very clear just how little common sense the typical gamer [can] muster online.

And as aforementioned many times elsewhere, the PS360 didn't start out the fully-seasoned and optimised OS' [with inherent flaws] they are now [the PS4/X-Box 8 OS' will have some teething problems day 1 too].

Let's revisit this after the Wii U first year and remember, unlike the Wii's very structure couldn't handle much of, the Wii U can boast an open field of big OS / feature update possibilities.

Time will tell.

The internet nailed the Wii's third-party situation, as well as the system's ability to sustain its sales in the long-term without those third-parties. Dismissing such concerns outright is not particularly wise business strategy.

Of course it was, anyone with half a braincell knew it.

And yet we went through several years where Nintendo did absolutely nothing at all to address the problem, while various individuals argued that everything was just fine and, instead of acknowledging underlying issues, chose to attack nonsense strawmen about Nintendo and its systems being 'doomed' or whatever.

The same happened with the 3ds and the day NGP/vita was annunced, no one was spelling doom to it.
