Play the video in the tweet above and make sure your volume is up. Does anything sound weird to you, because things sound amiss to a considerable amount of Mario fans out there.

Following the reveal of Super Mario Bros. Wonder today, some Nintendo fans took to social media to question whether Charles Martinet has returned to voice Mario. Some people find the voice work to be so different that they believe the longtime voice of Mario has been replaced.

To be completely honest, I don’t think this Mario sounds very different at all. I think people might be so used to hearing the same Mario sounds recycled over and over again that it’s a bit shocking to hear him saying something new. That’s just my own speculation, of course. We don’t know for sure that Charles Martinet is doing the voice work here, but we’ve reached out to Nintendo for comment.

Because of today's cultural climate, Nintendo had to hire an actual elephant to do the voice acting in order to not be offensive.

It's actually Charles Martinet, it's just people are dumb and don't realize that Nintendo had been reusing the same sound clips of mario since 2014, it sounds different because these are new recordings and Martinet is older

I thought he sounded different on first watch, was surprised no one else in the reactions I watched mentioned it.
