Game Freak and The Pokemon Company have announced another entry in the Pokemon Legends series, Pokemon Legends Z-A. The game is confirmed to be set in the Kalos region of Generation 6 and will be released for Nintendo Switch in 2025. Mega Evolutions have also been teased to return. Check out the new reveal trailer above!

A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.

Great that they take their time for this one, can hope itä'll get better performance and a bit livilier than the recent games with more "secrets and puzzles" than recent gens. Legends Arceus was a good concept with potencial to be executed alot better.

2025.

Thank Arceus, they’re learning.

Speaking of waiting, it’ll be good to finally have a proper follow-up to all the Kalos lore that was left on the table a decade ago.

But bruh I thought Nintendo will release their next console on 2025! Does this mean that rumor that Nintendo delayed it next year is bogus?

Twelve years later and we finally got Z. Hot damn, took 'em long enough.

A new Pokémon game while the next system is about to be released? Yeah, that sounds about right.
I would've preferred to revisit Unova with the original Yin/Yang dragon as the title mon but Gen 6 is fine too. That's about the only good thing about this though. 2025 but NOT for the new system is wrong on so many fronts. It would've been a KILLER APP as a (near) launch title. But as I've said before: This is not the first time the Pokémon Co. pulled this little stunt nor will it be the last.

...but 'whithin' Lumiose City...? Does that mean the whole game takes place in the city and that's it? I mean, this Legends franchise could branch out to more than one genre I guess?

@socar

There's a ton of precedent for new Pokemon games on hardware that's aging out. Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Black & White AND their sequels, UltraSun and Moon, plus a ton of spinoffs. I strongly suspect this will be a Switch 1 game. If it points to anything, it's that Switch 1 support will continue (naturally, given the install base) and that backwards compatibility will indeed be a feature.

They didn't show much but the fact that they are working on a (modern day) Legends game is absolutely amazing. And Mega evolution is finally returning

Really surprised that it's Kalos instead of Unova though

Btw the fact that it's releasing in 2025 makes me wonder if the game releases for Switch 2 as well

A little logic: If true that Switch Flex releases next year and so this brand new, main line Pokemon game, Pokemon which is the biggest IP to date, there's no doubt there will be a Switch Flex version.
This could also be a big hint at it being BC, if nothing else, but pretty sure tha Nintendo as a publisher will have this on Switch Flex on day one. Imagine the sales!

@enthropy

I prefer Chad Switch but Switch Flex is also pretty nice.
My money is still on Super (Nintendo) Switch though.
