EA and FIFA end partnership, FIFA series to rebrand as EA Sports FC
Kicking off a new name
EA and FIFA have decided to dissolve their nearly 30-year partnership pertaining to Soccer games. FIFA will stay as-is until the Women’s World Cup next summer in 2023. After that, EA will be officially moving ahead with a FIFA series rebrand, calling the franchise EA Sports FC from there on out.
While the name might be changing, current FIFA fans can expect pretty much the same content and approach with EA Sports FC. EA made sure to let fans know that popular clubs and players will remain in EA Sports FC thanks to separate licensing deals.
First reports of EA wanting to part ways with the FIFA brand came back in October, as word spread that FIFA was looking to get $1 billion from EA for FIFA name licensing fees.
