Monster Hunter Rise is about to get a major expansion with its Sunbreak DLC, which comes out on June 30th, 2022. That will no doubt bring in a whole new wave of hunters, but it looks like the game is doing just fine as is!

Thanks to Capcom’s latest financial report, we now know that Monster Hunter Rise has sold over 9 million units worldwide since launch. That figure includes both the Switch and PC release, but we don’t know what the split between the two is. That said, we do know that the Switch version has sold more units overall.

Finally, it’s worth noting that the Monster Hunter franchise has now reached over 80 million cumulative sales. There was a period in time where Monster Hunter saw the vast majority of its sales in Japan, but those days are clearly over. Monster Hunter is now a worldwide success for Japan, and will no doubt continue to be a major growth driver for the company.

I would assume a worldwide success for Capcom in particular? Though Japan is a worldwide success in general I would say :P
