We’re very sad to report that Billy Kametz after a battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Billy was 35 years old.

Billy was a voice actor on countless anime and game projects. Nintendo fans would recognize Billy as the actor behind Ferdinand Von Aegir in Fire Emblem Three Houses, Blue in Pokémon Masters, Ogata in 13 Sentinals Aegis Rim, and plenty of other titles like Triangle Strategy, Demon Slayer and more.

Our hearts go out to Billy’s family and all those impacted by this loss. You can read the full obituary for Billy here. You can also find a GoFundMe for Billy here.

Thank you to the many, many people who reached out to share word of Billy’s passing.

He did a great job with Ferdinand in Fire Emblem. I wonder if he was able to provide the voice for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

This is definitely not an update I was expecting to see. I wrote the piece on his diagnosis about a month and a half ago, and I learned a decent amount about his work from doing that. I really hadn't realized all the things he lent his voice to-- even games I have played extensively.

It's especially tragic because a lot of people may not have known his name, but so many knew his characters and his voice. I hope more people learn about him following his passing, because he seemed like a genuinely nice person and a hard worker with a passion for his craft.

Rest in peace Billy, and thank you.

I don't know him, but I do like a lot of people know about cancer. It's a scourge. Very sorry to hear of his death, 35 years old, that's so young and tragic. Condolences to his family and friends.

He did; in fact, this news hit me so hard I don't think I can play the demo tonight -- just hearing him would be too much.

Someone I knew described the news as "unfair" and I can't think of a more fitting descriptor -- guy was up-and-coming with his dream job and now the scourge of cancer robbed him from us at too young of an age. I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through.

Even watching his original announcement video, his fear was palpable, but true to the eternal positivity so boasted by his colleagues, there was a firm optimism that just made you believe he'd make it out okay...and now this. F*** cancer.

Tell your loved ones tonight you love them; really, they'll need it.

What a god damn shame. I love him in everything he is in. Colon cancer hits home hard to me, and it is no joke. Early detection saves so, so many lives. I've been part of organizations fighting to lower the age in which you should be tested. If you have any family history, please, please take it seriously and get yourself checked at 30 even.

I just met him this past January at an anime convention. To think only 2 months later he would find out he has cancer. Really nice guy that left us too soon. I believe he did voice work for Three Hopes so playing it when it comes out is going to hit hard on the emotions.

Yikes, so young (actually the same ages as me). I still have to play Thre Houses, its in my bakclog, so now when I'll hear Ferdinand this will propably be in the back of my mind.
