UPDATE: Bandai Namco has confirmed that they have been hacked. You can see their full statement on the matter, provided to VGC, below. You can see our original post below the statement.

On July 3, 2022, Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. confirmed that it experienced an unauthorized access by third party to the internal systems of several Group companies in Asian regions (excluding Japan). After we confirmed the unauthorized access, we have taken measures such as blocking access to the servers to prevent the damage from spreading.

In addition, there is a possibility that customer information related to the Toys and Hobby Business in Asian regions (excluding Japan) was included in the servers and PCs, and we are currently identifying the status about existence of leakage, scope of the damage, and investigating the cause.

We will continue to investigate the cause of this incident and will disclose the investigation results as appropriate. We will also work with external organizations to strengthen security throughout the Group and take measures to prevent recurrence.

We offer our sincerest apologies to everyone involved for any complications or concerns caused by this incident.

[Bandai Namco statement]

While Bandai Namco hasn’t released a public statement yet, it appears that the publisher/developer has been the focus of a ransomware attack.

The ransomware group BlackCat is claiming to have hacked Bandai Namco, hitting the company with ransomware. This wouldn’t be the first time that BlackCat has been involved with a ransomware attack, and it seems the group continues to evade repercussions for their actions. The severity of this ransomware attack or data collected is yet to be revealed.

If Bandai Namco shares comment on this matter, we’ll be sure to add their statement to this post.

Thought 1: I hope Bandai Namco pays up so their info isn't leaked online

Thought 2: If they don't pay, everyone will find out their involvement in Metroid Prime 4

Good point. I want all the grisly details on the Metroid Prime 4 debacle.

Great. Now BlackCat has my underwear size.

Dude c'mon...their data is hacked and they are trying to run a business. Who cares on how much involved they were in the game? It's either they didn't get along with Nintendo or Nintendo didn't like how it was going with them. What good will that leak do?

I'd like the hackers to change Bamco's logo back to the old design.
