Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective originally launched on the DS back in 2010, where critics and players were very quick to sing the game’s praises. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to light the sales charts on fire, but it definitely found a cult following.
Now, 13+ years after its original launch, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is getting a second shot at stardom with a Switch release. If this version finds success, is there potential for a sequel to come about? Ghost Trick creator Shu Takumi isn’t ready to commit, but there’s a chance.
In an interview with Game Informer, Takumi was asked about the possibility of Ghost Trick getting an official follow-up. Takumi certainly leaves a bit of wiggle room for that to happen, which you can read in his comment below.
The story of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is completely told in this single game, so I think it would be difficult to create a sequel. However, the powers of the dead that this game introduces may hold some possibility.
