The following rules are intended only to provide a baseline for behavior in the IRC room. They are not all-inclusive, since not every situation can be predicted, but hopefully with some common sense and decency, our chat members won't pursue situations which their behavior is in question.
By entering the chat, you are agreeing to abide by them, or face consequences which can include but not be limited to kicking or banning.
- Respect the OPs. Each OP/moderator is given authority to exercise control according to these rules based on their own discretion and necessity. Generally, All OPs are providing a service of their own free will, without pay, for your benefit of a usable, enjoyable chat; and therefore deserve your respect and cooperation. If you have an issue with an OP, contact an admin (below).
- Please be civil and courteous towards your fellow chatters. We have a very liberal policy regarding language, but overly abusive language is not permitted. If you are excessively vulgar, insulting, explicit, or hateful, disciplinary actions may be taken on your account. Trolling and other antagonizing messages will be dealt as unacceptable behavior.
- Harassment is not tolerated, either via Private Message, in the chat, or otherwise. If you are an abrasive personality and enjoy provoking arguments, retaliation from those you provoke is NOT harassment, it's your just dessert.
- No derogatory, racist, sexist, etc. language. This is a gaming chat, not a nazi festival. If you have hate issues, take it somewhere else; it'll get you banned here.
- No illicit/illegal/inappropriate content. This includes warez, porn, ROMs, hentai, etc. All of these things are easy enough to find online for those people who want them; we don't need the FBI busting down our door.
- Game spoilers should be kept to a minimum, and contain vague information at the most. i.e. "I am on the 3rd dungeon", not "Aeris dies!!!1!one". Repeatedly posting spoilers will result in warning eventually ending in a ban. Links to articles/sites etc. are required to have a spoiler tag.
- Graphic/Sexual content is allowed to the point it becomes offensive. If you have questions about something you want to share with the room, ask the OP(s) on duty first. Additionally, please add a [NSFW] before the link in order to warn other users.
- Spam, which would be content nonsensical or irrelevant to the current topic. Users are encouraged to stay on topic and be relevant to the theme of the current discussions. Being informative or entertaining are also good ways to get a good conversation going. TYPING IN ALL CAPS are tolerated only on occasion; don't do it every other or every few lines, unless you want to incur the wrath of the community and the OPs.
- Announcements/news...can be a firestorm in the chat, so be sure to include links as proof, or if a joke/rumor, be sure to state so in a timely manner. Failure to do so will result in the action being considered as trolling.
- Controversial Topics, such as politics, religion, sexuality are allowed so long as discussion remains civil. Should things become unruly, offensive, harassing, derogatory, or otherwise unpleasant, an OP may instruct the arguing parties to relocate to another room. Such a directive from an OP is not a request.
Again these rules are intended only to keep peace and order in the chat. Please feel free to private message any of the OPs with questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions. If you have a complaint that needs action taken, be sure to include enough information, including some sort of proof or log of the activity. Hearsay is not actionable as proof of anyone's wrongdoing. OPs will keep logs, especially when taking action against a user, but logs beyond that are your own responsibility.
