GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - Do you care about Devil's Third?

Man, updating from the beach was a lot more fun than sitting in my office. Oh well, back to the real world! At the very least, I brought back the North Carolina heat with me. No ocean here to cool off with, but plenty of air conditioning! See you in a few, short hours.

Well, who knew that Devil's Third was going to be at the center of its own little controversy? Funny how things work out. If someone told me that Devil's Third would be causing some trouble later in the year, I would have guessed it would be related to content. Itagaki is a bit heavy-handed when it comes to sexual content and violence, so that seems like something that might spark up discussion. Oddly enough, it's the game's release that has been a big topic of discussion for awhile now.

Both Japan and Europe had news on their release of Devil's Third, but things were quiet in North America. Many figured that we'd get our confirmation at E3 this year, but that came and went without a mention. We even knew that Itagaki was walking around at E3, but he never showed up at Nintendo's booth, and Devil's Third was never mentioned during their presentations. It was that moment that fans knew something was up for sure.

Then the hands-on impressions of the title came out of Europe, and they have been quite hard on the game. I'm not saying the bashing isn't warranted. I haven't played the game myself, but there are plenty of trustworthy people/outlets saying that the game just isn't up to snuff. Then we have Itagaki saying that the negative impressions are coming out because the game is just too hard. An argument like that is just a tad silly to me, but game difficulty definitely plays its part in how games are previewed.

While all this was going on, rumors of the game's release in the states had been circulating. We heard that Nintendo dropped all publishing plans. Then we heard that a third party was going to pick up the game and bring it stateside. Now today we hear that Nintendo is indeed going to bring the game out here in Q4, and that includes both a physical and digital release. Thankfully Nintendo put out this news in press release form, so we have 100% concrete info on the game coming stateside.

So much hubbub about the game, but there's one question that is important above all others. Do you actually care about Devil's Third? Did you have plans on picking up the game until you heard the poor hands-on impressions? Were you never interested in the game to begin with? Were you a day-one purchaser no matter what? Leave a comment and let us know!
