Level-5 CEO explains the sad, real-life origins of Yo-Kai Watch's Jibanyan

Jibanyan is one of the flagship Yo-Kai in Yo-Kai Watch, but did you know that he was inspired by a real-life event? Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino confirmed this info in an interview, where he detailed his personal experience with an abandoned kitten he spotted on the side of the road.

“I passed it by at first, thinking that I probably couldn’t keep a cat at home, but it was just so cute, I thought to myself ‘I gotta do this!’ So I came back a few minutes later, but by that time, it had already been hit by a car.”
