RUMOR - Tanabe/Retro Studios not on good terms, Tanabe no longer working with Retro

GN Version 5.0

- Kensuke Tanabe and Retro Studios are allegedly no longer on good terms
- this info comes from someone at a certain Nintendo studio who has worked with him before and two other close sources
- Tanabe would often explode with great passion on certain designers when they made mistakes or challenged him
- these devs described him as a competent creative and leader; albeit a fiery personality
- Tanabe has either co-produced or produced every last project for Retro prior to their newest one
- certain employees at Retro were unhappy after working with him on Tropical Freeze
- this lead to the subsidiary's management appealing to NCL regarding the matter
- around the time of Tanabe's leave in 2014, Retro had apparently begun to seek a greater level of autonomy from NCL
- a certain NCL member responded to these requests by removing Tanabe and assigning a new NCL producer in his place
- this new producer may be Yoshio Sakamoto, but this is very unconfirmed
- first rumblings of Tanabe leaving Retro come as far back as late 2014

Thanks to Dakhil for the heads up!
