WHAT:
Inspired by a nationwide push for more computer science education and digital learning for children, Nintendo is partnering with the San Francisco Public Library to teach kids the basics of video game level design using the Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U console. On March 30 starting at 3 p.m. PT, Nintendo and the San Francisco Public Library will host an event at The Mix, a creative space at the Main Library where kids and teens can create, learn, engage and share using all sorts of different tools.

During the Super Mario Maker event, kids and their parents will have the opportunity to attend special workshops hosted by Nintendo game experts that will introduce them to video game level design using the Super Mario Maker game. Kids will be split into groups and given hands-on time with the game and shown the ins and outs of game level design. The kids will be encouraged to work together to design their own courses in the game – the more creative, the better! The courses will then be available to play by anyone that owns Super Mario Maker and has Internet access by entering special course codes in the game. Course codes will be shared after the event concludes.
