GN Version 5.0

Book 3 of the popular Legends of Localization series is jumping your way with a detailed look at the first game in the Super Mario Bros. series!

The first Super Mario Bros. release jumpstarted the console game industry worldwide. We’ll investigate the role that game localization had in this international success, as well as what game localization generally looked like in the mid-1980s. We’ll also examine the myriad of international Super Mario Bros. releases, variations, spin-offs, merchandise, movies, and more. Nintendo’s localization of the first Super Mario Bros. game laid a foundation that has lasted for over 30 years. Let’s find out what made it so influential!

Because the Japanese version of the game features English text, we're expanding our scope and researching Super Mario Bros. from as many countries in the world as possible. We'll look at its release and how it differed in each country, the different character names and terms used in each country, and even examine the bootleg Super Mario Bros. cartridges (and their bootleg consoles) in countries that never got an official release.

This third book will include all-new information not found online or anywhere else. Don't miss it!
