GoNintendo Thought - Bethesda's strong words on Switch

How the hell did we already get to Thanksgiving?! It's crazy, I tell you. Each year goes faster and faster. I'm not even ready for the Summer to be over yet, but it's been long gone for awhile now. Let's just hope Winter goes by just as quickly! See you in a few, short hours.

I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you – well, maybe that's an N.D.A. thing. One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3. - Bethesda's Todd Howard

We reported on this interview snipped a couple days ago, but I really wanted to discuss it for a 'Thought' feature on the site. I believe it to be the most important bit of support we've heard for the Switch yet.

Bethesda hasn't done anything on Nintendo platforms in a very, VERY long time. Even if you do count their old work, it's not reflective of who they are now. I don't think they should be judged on their Where's Waldo game on NES. Bethesda is a very different company nowadays, and their name has become one of the biggest in the industry. They create experiences that millions upon millions of people look forward to.

Nintendo fans have been left out of those experiences. It was certainly a sore spot in Nintendo's software lineup. Fans were eager to get some of those Bethesda experiences, but they never came our way. For one reason or another, Bethesda just didn't feel their titles would work/be a good fit on Nintendo platforms. Now that's all going to change with the Switch, where Bethesda was front-and-center for the reveal trailer.

Just look at how powerful Mr. Howard's words are. Bethesda is part of the Switch's lineup of supporting devs. They don't have to say much of anything to share their excitement on the platform, but Howard went above and beyond. It seems very clear that his opinion of the system is genuine. He appears to have been really blown away by what he saw in the Switch. I mean, if that weren't the case, it would be business as usual on the Switch. Bethesda wouldn't be there, but Nintendo has managed to court them over with their new hardware.

While we've heard about 'unprecedented partnerships' in the past, I feel quite differently about Bethesda. Those few words from Mr. Howard have really given me hope about the platform's success. How do you feel about what Bethesda said? Do you think it's just PR speak, or is there something more to it?
