France - Pokemon Sun/Moon doing big numbers, boosting 3DS, NES Classic Edition sold out, big Switch interest

The following info pertains to France

- Nintendo expects Pokemon Sun/Moon sales to top 700k units by the end of the year, and 1 million units sometime in 2017
- in general, Nintendo 3DS best-sellers need 2 to 4 years in order to reach 1 million units in France
- Pokémon X and Y (released in 2013) still hasn’t hit a million in France, but it's close
- 85% of players in France discovered video games through Mario, but many haven’t played a Mario game in a long time
- Nintendo expects Super Mario Maker for 3DS to get a boost, thanks to Super Mario Run
- according to Olivier Garcia (from the FNAC, a major retailer chain), many people have expressed interest in Switch
- people have been asking about release date and preorders
- Pokemon Sun/Moon impacted 3DS sales, with 55k units sold at launch
- 2DS bundle was pretty popular, as it amounts to 50% of those sales
- many of those who bought Pokémon Sun and Moon had not played a Pokémon games since the very beginning
- many bought it in order to play with their children
- NES Classic Edition had 100k units for launch, and everything sold with just pre-orders
- Nintendo is sending regular shipments, but there's still a struggle to meet demand
- every time new units go live on Fnac.com, they’re all gone within 10 minutes
- the plan is to ship new units regularly in December and in early 2017
- according to the FNAC, most of people buying the NES Classic Edition are not “gamers”
