- down 4 percent compared to $636.7 million January 2016
- Hardware: $127.1 million (down 19 percent from $157 million in January 2016)
- Console software: $312.5 million (up 14 percent from $273.9 million)
- PC software: $16.1 million (down 12 percent from $18.3 million)
- Accessories: $155 million (down 17 percent from $187.5 million)

“Video games software spending increased by 14 percent to $313 million. This was due in large part to the stronger comparison this January with the release of Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
