Playstation Europe president says the industry is better when Nintendo is strong

The industry certainly is a better place when all companies are firing on all cylinders. Let's hope this is just the start of a great generation for Nintendo.

Well when Nintendo is down, Sony don't know what ideas to steal.

My thoughts exactly. Not joking either. How long before we see the next PSP with detachable controllers and a dock?

I hate to burst your bubble, but Sony filed a patent for a similar device well before anyone knew what the NX was going to be. http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/02/17/sony-files-patent-for-what-looks-like-a-switch-esque-handheld

There have also been many gaming tablets within the last 5 years or so that have had removable controls. Nothing about the NS is new or unique, except for maybe the HD rumble, but I've heard little about that since the NS was launched. So I wouldn't say that is a killer selling feature, and everything else has been done.

So I doubt Sony would copy and idea of an idea, that has already been done by others. Themselves included.

Seen that before... and I agree with others; there is no apparent way to detach those odd grips. They probably aren't meant to be detachable, they're just weird looking handles...

There have also been many gaming tablets within the last 5 years or so that have had removable controls.

To my knowledge, none of those detachable tablet controllers function as controllers when removed... taking them off renders them useless and what-more that means they can't be used as separate controllers for local multiplayer games.

Yeah you're living in a fantasy if you're truly of the belief that the Switch offers nothing new or unique in the video game hardware space. If Sony were to release something Switch-esque, it would only represent a continuation of Sony's general approach toward Nintendo hardware innovations for the past 20 years. Lots of shameless copying.

The video seems to be broken.

Seems to work for me

Works now, but was displaying an error message earlier. Thanks for fixing it RMC, assuming you did so!

Don't tell some people here that, they'll go off the rails with the Nintendoom.

I believe the statement 100%. My least favourite console generation has to be the GameCube era because on all platforms there felt to be a more severe lack of creativity and polish and I think the market leaning towards PlayStation and consumers turning their heads on Nintendo was the reason.

I don't know man PS2 got a lot of excellent japanese games. And also GC itself was pretty much packed with creative content.
