Super Mario Odyssey - TONS of new gameplay/story tidbits

GN Version 5.0

- game kicks off with Mario already mid-battle with Bowser atop his airship
- Mario gets knocked out by Bowser and wakes up in the Cap Kingdom
- Cappy finds Mario is wakes tries to wake him up
- when Cappy does wake Mario up, he gets scared and flies away
- Cappy tells Mario that Bowser attacked the Cap Kingdom and kidnapped Cappy's sister, Tiara
- Bowser left the kingdom and all of its airships in ruin
- Cappy has heard there's a usable airship in the next Kingdom over
- Cappy can get you to that Kingdom if you take him to the top of the Top Hat Tower
- Cappy managed to catch the remains of Mario's hat after Bowser destroyed it, and thus takes on its form
- the Cap Kingdom is made up of gently rolling hills for Mario to run around on
- there are boxes to break, flowers that bloom, and light-posts that light up
- there are also frogs here, which you can capture
- capturing a frog shows a lengthy scene of how Mario flies through/transfers into the frog
- Mario wakes up within the frog, and looks down upon himself in first person, shocked to see his frog body
- you use your frog abilities to jump super high and climb the Top Hat Tower
- at the top are the Broodals, including a boss fight against the short green one
- when you defeat him, it'll create a powerline that connects you to the next Kingdom
- the Luncheon Kingdom is filled with all types of food, and is surrounded by a lava-like substance
- one of the objectives here is entitled "The Broodals Are After Some Cooking"
- this leads to another Broodal boss battle
- levels will change and expand as you play through them
- you'll find a Girl Goomba here looking to find love, specifically with Goomba Mario
- this Girl Goomba is stuck up on a high ledge, so you'll have to stack up Goombas to be able to reach her
- when she sees Mario transform back to his normal self, she gets scared and runs off
- you can capture a lava bubble in this Kingdom, which lets you swim through the lava-like substance without getting hurt
- you can use this ability to access a pipe which takes you to a 2D section that includes hazards rolling around in the regular world
- some doors have scarecrows on them, and you can only enter them if you toss your hat onto the scarecrow and go in hatless
- doors like this lead to platforming challenges and more
- capture Frying Pan Hammer Bros. to use their frying pan tossing skills to break down cheese blocks
- there are giant corn cobs you need to run/ride along to get to certain areas
- you can capture a piece of meat in this kingdom, salt it, and then a bird takes it to it's nest where there are Power Moons
- tomatoes turn into acidic pools of juice when you pop them
- Seaside Kingdom has a giant ocean for you to explore
- there are snails here with big mustaches, wearing berets and striped t-shirts
- there are underwater bubbles to get air while you swim
- there's also a seaweed-like creature that will follow you around underwater
- you can happen upon a beach club that requires you to be wearing the right outfit to gain access
- there's also another underwater 2D section that requires traversing numerous pipes to complete it
- you'll find a tunnel where you need to find a Cheep Cheep to swim deep inside
- Mario can't swim in here as himself due to not being able to hold his breath long enough
- this cave is filled with giant eels to avoid
- this Kingdom also has a special flower that attaches to Mario's back and propels him at high speed
- music notes are spread out across the water top, and you need the flower to run along the top of the water and collect the notes
- there's a creature you can capture that is encapsulated by a water bubble, which lets you propel into the air and spin around to shoot water
- you can use the water they shoot to clear out lava
- this area has a giant octopus boss who is gobbling up all the Kingdom's water, and you need the creature mentioned above to take him out
- to fight him, you first have to hit 4 giant buttons to knock him off the giant glasses of sparkling water he's stealing from
- the Crazy Cap Store in this Kingdom is divided into to sections, each part of a different sea monster
- there's also another Girl Goomba here to find, and the Goombas here are wearing pirate hats
- you'll find patches of ground that make the Joy-Con rumble, and if you ground-pound here, you'll find a Power Moon or more
- a dog in Seaside Kingdom will bark to let you know where coins are hidden underground
- paintings in stages work as quick portals between Kingdoms
- there is a Kingdom that hasn't been shown yet, but apparently it will make fans of Super Mario 64 happy
