Konami's M2 team knows how to design 2D games. The feel like straight out of the early 1990s.
I'm very much looking forward to this, and I hope the success of WiiWare Contra inspires them to create more ReBirth games.

YES. yesYES. more yes. Wiiware (and dlc platfroms in general) are making sure to fill every niche left unattended in the console markets passed of this decade. Keep it going, Konami. You will be compensated for your troubles. I gotta think you'll break even at least

Sweet. I hope this does well in sales to warrant MOAR.

Also since Climax is doing a Rocket Knight game, how about a separately developed Rocket Knight Rebirth please.

We NEED a 2D sprite installment, because 3D graphics can be stylized but Japanese developers (or Wayforward) are the only parties that can do platforming justice much to my knowledge.

Though I'll still play the Live/PSN Rocket Knight just to be sure.

Wait...which Castlevania game IS this? :P
Like, the original that it's based off of.
Which platform was it originally on?
Castlevania: The Adventure doesn't sound at all familiar to me...

actually it's based on a franchise entry that hit the Game Boy. C'mon all you gots ta do is wiki that sh*t, guys. It was pretty cool, but had it's flaws. Sounds like this buff-up could do wonders, plus I havn;t played it since I was like 5 or 6, so I'm pretty sure it'll feel brand new. It's more linear, so not so much circa Symphony of the NIght and beyond with exploration elements within a giant castle.

edit, DAMN, beaten to it! Why must I be long winded?!

Ha ha: yeah your actually explaining about it in complete sentences cost you the gold. LOL I wouldn't feel bad, as your explanation actually, you know... explains what it is.

@Buntaro

I hope this gets everyone making more everything like this.

Between the ReBirths and Megaman 9, I think SEGA and Nintendo should jump on this boat as well.

I know we're getting NSMBW, but I feel like a more classic, sprite game would be cool as well, since they aren't going the way I'd prefer (which is, like Boy/Blob, Wario Land, Muramasa).

Well, Bloody Tears wasn't in the original version, so i don't think it'll make an appearance here. but the music from The Adventure was superb, so i hope the remixes do some justice.

Never played the original Game Boy version so it'll be all new to me. :) Now I can see Christopher Belmont in color, and in 16/32-bits! Here's a picture of his original character illustration:

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/castl ... topher.jpg

I wonder if his updated design is by Ayami Kojima (no relation to Hideo), or Masaki (the artist for Order of Ecclesia [they said Ayami's designs were darker than what they wanted for the DS games, but they knew fans weren't too pleased with the "generic anime" designs of the other two DS CV games so they found a middle ground with Masaki's artwork]).

@Eternal Rain

This only makes me realize that I miss the days when Castlevania heroes were these feral, beastly badasses with crappy hair and made Conan and Hercules look silly.

Reading the gameplay and reception at Wikipedia,doesn't strike me as the best idea ever.

Now if say this was a remake of the Castlevania on Genesis which had Jonathan, CHARLOTTE, JONATHAN, CHARLO-er, John Morris and Eric because he was womanized in Judgment this would be a bigger deal to me.

But for what it's worth (10 dollars) and releases this month, it's aint that bad.

*Crosses fingers for SoTN like sequel on DSiware or WiiWare*

The original was a pretty terrible game, honestly. Loved it as a kid, like you loved games back then when you weren't aware of and didn't care about a game's reception, but this one aged horribly and was poor to begin with, aside from the decent soundtrack. Gameplay and jumping physics were truly sluggish beyond repair and the ridiculous difficulty paired with no continues made beating the game almost impossible.

Nevertheless this leaves much room for improvement, so I'm actually pretty interested how this modernization of a game I shared a love-hate-relationship with turns out on WiiWare.

EDIT:
I knew I recently read something about it... nintendolife actually did a retro-review about it: click

Your feedback is a little on the small side there. At least write something more than 10 characters, dude. Cheating with spaces or filler doesn't count, and may get your post removed!

I hope it has more than 4 freakin' levels, like the GB game did. And Contra ReBirth itself only had 5 levels. I was very disapointed in that.

I'm happy to FINALLY get 2D console Castlevania...but I could do with less than (allegedly) "Symphony of the Night" level graphics, and get a longer, more fleshed out game. I mean COME ON, at least 7 or 8 levels. That's only fair.

But whatever. I'll download it anyway.

Now if only Konami would get off their ASSES, and put Rondo of Blood (translated), on the VC in NA for us. I've literally been waiting for that game since the Wii's launch.

Okay then... how about a 3D Castlevania game, using the wiimote as a whip, hmm?

It probably won't be a good idea though, heh. This one looks infinitely AWESOME, though

@Devil_Rising

I know what you mean about Rondo of Blood. They have a full translation of the original game too! (thanks to the PSP remake including the original 16 bit graphics as an unlockable.) It's getting tot he point where I'm really starting to think Konami has no real excuse for the lack of RoB on the VC.

Castlevania Adventure was the first gameboy game I ever played in my life. It was a hard game, but it means a lot to me.

Hopefully they improved some of the gameplay mechanics, like the tedious jumping, and toned down the cheapness difficulty, to something more streamlined and requires skill, not luck and no cheap deaths.
