A portion of an IGN Minute with Nintendo's Denise Kaigler...
IGN: We're liking the new Nintendo Channel. The weekly show is a great idea. What other types of updates are you planning for the Wii experience this year and beyond?
Denise Kaigler: We're really happy that our fans seem to be so positive about the updates to the Nintendo Channel and the new Nintendo Week show. As the show develops, viewers can expect Nintendo Week to be a source of exclusive game announcements and special guest appearances by game developers and celebrities. Of course, we're all about providing our fans with surprises, so here's a tease for you: We're working on a little surprise for those who connect their Wii to the Internet, so keep your eye on the Nintendo Channel for that announcement to come in the near future.

Actually, I wonder if it's a Nintendo Channel update with a Wii Download Service (same as DS Download Service) to download Wii game demos. Naw... that's expecting too much.
I think they mean announcing a game in that weekly show.
When is Denise gonna answer more of our question?
Yes please! Except the pizza ;].
so no free dominos pizza then?
Consistency first, Nintendo, then you can focus on new things...
It's probably nothing to get worked up about, isn't it? Like maybe they're giving devs an extra 640KB to work with for WiiWare games...
*sigh*
Post the list man. The LIST!
As for the surprise, I can guarantee it'll be 'USELESS! FAIL! CRAP!' according to the Nintendo fandom.
...I wish...
:S
@martijn2
Consider yourselves lucky. this is the trash the UK gets:

Oh well at least some of that is gif worthy.
That said, I'm willing to bet it'll be North America finally getting the Today and Tomorrow channel much to the angers of Christians...
Ah, it's that dude from Sky One's: The Lost Initiative. That's the only cool part, though.
[I've never seen the need for keeping the Nintendo Channel since, like, I'm on here everyday]?
Pilotwings
Super Mario Kart or
Super Smash Bros
Nothing new but cool to finally have a US confirmation.
If its the case anyway.
"I think this is just confirmation of the cool Internet Promotion where you get free VC games the more you help people"
THIS THIS THIS A THOUSAND TIMES THIS!
I was trying to find a way to say this but I couldn't so I just said New Wii Channel. But, you put down just what I was thinking.
I have absolutely no faith in anything Denise Kaigler talks about as having any bearing on the type of games that interest me.
I dont have high hopes of that happening, but maybe just maybe, Nintendo will take advantage of the SD card slot like they should. Seriously, everything that you guys have listed is possible with the SDHC capacity/accessibility that Nintendo has opened up to the devs (Guitar Hero 5). They just need to take advantage of it themselves.
Seriously?!!! If true, that would be badass!
That's more plausible than Nintendo ever doing [imo, pointless] game demos [Wii and in the future], so yeah, I'm for that.
Wii Shop Channel x10? Meaning we can download demos for games. Also trade in our Wiiware mistakes for some points?
It better be something good.
- A worldwide release of the video channel that is in Japan.
- Universal Friend Codes
- Friends list
- The ability for developers to patch/fix their broken games
- A new Wii Channel (most likely)
- A redesigned Wii Menu
- Support for external hard drives
You can't trade in Xbox Live Arcade games or PSN games can you?
No, I don't you can so I don't suppose Nintendo will do this. I would like a GameShare thing like PS3.
Make it Pizza Hut instead and I'm in.
As much as I'd love achievements on Wii, Miyamoto had a good point -- Nintendo tries to focus on encouraging players to play games for the sake of PLAYING them and having fun, not to build up an artificial e-penis.
OK, he didn't phrase it like that but you get the picture.
thats what i was hoping for too
but demos are just too useful to actually implement
@WarioFan63
That's the first thing that came to my mind when I read the statement.
