A portion of a GamesRadar review:
Is anyone going to lose that post-holiday belly by standing on a set of bluetooth-equipped scales and wobbling in front of a Wii? Maybe not, given how thoroughly dull and sterile Wii Fit can be. A few sessions later, the interest wanes. At least that's our experience of it.

It's called an opinion. They are entitled to theirs just as you are entitled to yours.
Video game reviews will always be subjective. Bashing a review because you have a different opinion is just dumb.

Not really. It's not an opinion that the game helps you lose weight.
They make the claim that they don't think the game can help you lose weight.
This is not them stating an opinion, it's them making a claim. That claim they are making has been time and time again proven to be false.

How many people who have purchased Wii Fit lost weight? You can use a percentage.
Anyway, I was just thinking earlier how odd it is to see people on this site make fun or diss what they believe to be 'core' or 'hardcore/hardlycore' gamers.

Anybody whose played Wii Fit / Plus for about a week, 1 hour or so a day would have lost weight. Unless of course they were over eating which by that logic no exercise would help lose weight.
"given how thoroughly dull and sterile Wii Fit can be."
I would say flying around as a bird, snowball fights, skateboarding, a Mario style obstacle course and lots more would be far from dull or sterile. Not sure how that conclusion could be drawn aside from just being grumpy and bias towards the game when reviewing it.

Considering who this is coming from (GamesRadar) I'm not too surprised. I'm seriously starting to wonder why Nintendo Power gives them ad space in their magazine...

Wii Fit is like any other fitness regime. You have to be committed and consistent to see any results. Don't blame the game when you hula hoop for 5 minutes and complain that it doesn't work. The mini games are there to make the exercising less tedious.

They have ad space because Future Media does both Nintendo Power and Games Radar. They're sort of one in the same.
@WiiFolder
I completely agree. This is just another guy that refuses to "let go" of the "glory days." I think my favorite part of the review is
"Not so much a sequel as a revision of the successful, swiftly forgotten original."
Swiftly forgotten. A game that continued to chart in the Top 10 for over a year can't be considered "swiftly forgotten." The statement is a complete and total joke.

if you have no interest in your health or losing weight or trying to find an entertaining way to lose weight/get your body into shape then, yeah, you will lose interest. its not a GAME as much as its a fun way to exercise and monitor your health. it also helps your body in otherways. i work in a factory and i messed up my shoulder, back and neck and thanks to yoga and exercises targeting those areas i am now no longer in pain.
oh an in about 2 weeks of playing 5 days a week i have lost 6 1/2 pounds and have become more interested in exercising outside of wii fit as well, which it lets you record. and keeping track of how many calories youve burned has become more addictive than 360 achievements for me.

It is their opinion that the game is not a viable tool for weight loss. They are well within their rights to say that if that's what they believe.
Why is it that some people get so bent out of shape when some reviewer dislikes a game that they enjoy? I'll never understand that. Are you no longer allowed to play a game that you like if it gets a low review score from a particular publication?
WiiFolder...instead of wasting your time whining about a review about a game you like so much, why don't you just go play the game?

It's not that I'm arguing their opinion differs from mine. I'm saying in their review they give blatant false information.

It's my opinion that my working tv doesn't display shows.
I am a lying douchebag tool for saying it.
It would be even worse if people who would have bought my tv model and enjoyed it don't because i put it in a widely read website and people believed me.
Defending something you like against lies is a better use of time than defending liars for lying to the public and collecting a check as a result.

Guys, they even said it was THEIR experience of it. That you would "MAYBE NOT" lose weight.
That isn't saying that nobody can, and that isn't saying that everybody can.
What the hell is the problem with that? It's like nobody is allowed to have an opinion anymore (one that is not factually incorrect, by the way)

I have Wii Fit and just bought Plus last week. I lost weight, but that doesn't mean everyone who owns it will. Experiences vary and like any regime--you have to put in the effort to lose weight and be consistent.
I think this is really a matter of them reviewing it as a game instead of a weight loss tool that happens to be game-like in nature, but they are entitled to their opinion, so whatever.

I agree with you and Josh. The 'hardycores' just refuse to accept any kind of change, they'd rather have FPS and Simon Says rehashes all year 'round.

This has nothing to do with "accepting change." It has to do with the fact that website "X" didn't like the game. SO F*CKING WHAT? If YOU like it, go play it instead of crying over a review.
Oh...and in case you never realized this before, people have different opinions of different exercise routines. Some people like aerobics, others like to run, some prefer yoga, etc. Just because they like something different than you doesn't mean they are wrong. The just have a different personal preference.
And no, if they used the game and didn't lose any weight, they are well within their rights to tell people that. This isn't as cut and dry as the dumb "my TV doesn't work" example above.

Speaking your opinion is one thing, bullshitting is quite another and annoys people.
I can't say I'm an expert at Wii Fit, but when Yahtzee reviewed The Conduit for example I was quite annoyed he was too blind to find the control options...
Some here feel the same way about the statements in the review.

Yeah the game keeps track of calories burned and if you aren't burning enough to lose weight, you are just a lazy bastard.

I am unable to grasp what is going on in these comments.
It's like I stepped into a world of crazy.
It's still an opinion from their experience and what it did for them.
Everyone needs to stop saying they are lying that they didn't lose weight when they played unless you have footage and weight information from the reviewers on hand.
The logic in this bickering in this topic is just absurd.

That's like people saying an oven didn't cook food 'for them' because people in general aren't likely to 'find it engaging enough to put food into.'
