I don't know. It just doesn't seem as fun as the Metroidvania style games. It looks nice at least. For what it is. A wiiware game. That goes for a retro look. I wish it looked better.

It's not really up there with Symphony of the Night visually is it.

In fact it almost looks like a DS game with slightly scaled visuals so it fits on a standard TV screen imo.

Not the best but I'll reserve full judgement until I see more.

Have you seen gameplay footage or did you get to the "not as fun" conclussion from still images?

On topic: this game looks fffine.

@Freeload

I agree, the first thing that popped out at me was how similar it looked to a DS game. I don't mind though, because even the DS produced some good Castlevania games.

Not bad, but I wish the graphics had a bit more polished. That was my only complaint for Contra ReBirth. It didn't even look as good as Contra 3.

@NeroSuferoth

Well, I tried an old castlevania game before, and I wasn't as big on the latest DS game as I was on the Soma Cruz games. But yea, the screens just make the game look like something I will have less fun with. I do think I'm a good judge of what I will like.

But yea, I loved the Soma Cruz games and I'm positive I greatly prefer that style, NeroSuferoth.

The only reason it looks like a DS game is because those screens are... TINY!

@terryxlr

Fair enough..

From these images, to me it resembles more of Super Castlevania and that was a very fun and well balanced game.

But SotN is my favorite.

Thank God this isn't a Metroidvania one. I might actually be able to accomplish something here! :D

The art style turns me away, unfortunately. That's really all I can say, it's impossible to describe.

Damn 40MB limit. I bet this game would look a lot better if they had more data room for graphics.

My fingers are speechless at this comment. How do you surmise fun from screens?

I honestly dont like the way some of it looks right now. Specifically the skeletons. Makes me think od the GBA Castlevania games, not even DS caliber. But despite all that, I will buy it because Castlevania is always fun. Old ones and new.

I <3 the way this game looks. Just the thought of playing an old school looking Castlevania game is sexy.

I'm kinda scared of this game. I never played an old-school Castlevania game, maybe it's too hard/too "unplayable"?

these games are going for a 16 bit look people, jeez. That's why Gradius, Contra rebirth looked the way they did.

Wait, so is this more like the old Castlevanias, or the more Metroid-style ones? Because I've never played a Castlevania game before, and I'm wondering if this would be a good starting point.

Classic Castlevania or Metroidvania, it makes no difference. I'm a fan of both. The SNES-esque graphics are a huge plus in my opinion.

Colors are as bad, amateurish even, as in Contra Rebith! Very nice that Konami makes these games to Wiiware, but please: either get better artists or educate this group! No to trainees making Wii games!!!
