First. Day Purchase. The original Excitbike was the 2'nd NES game I ever bought, (right behind Goonies II and right before Rad Racer and Baseball ;) I loved the hell outta that game and the music and engine overheat sounds are bruned into my brain for all time. Sweet 2.5D and 3D styling!! =D

I was about to say something about that.
I just hope the angle doesn't change mid-race for cinematic effect.

At least this is Wiiware and not a retail release. For a Wiiware game, it looks very good(I don't mean graphics-wise, but rather in general)
Oh well, good thing I didn't get my hopes up too high.

Good point..

Heeheh, I was just remembering how in the NES game you did laps but you never saw any of the turns or curves..

Maybe that's what the different angles mean.

This was the big announcement?

I guess it's cool, but they hyped it up to be something massive. lol
I'll probably still buy it though, assuming it's not 5000 points.

If this was the big surprise game, I'm happy! From the looks of the game (and sounds) it seems to be coming from Monster Games. I seriously can't wait.

Hopefully Nintendo will do more WiiWare revisions of classic games.

I loved the original, but held off on buying it on the VC and I'm glad I did! Here's hoping that voice chat is included(not holding my breath though)...also, does anybody else find it a little odd that Nintendo didn't announce this, but like 3 weeks before it's released...almost exactly like Excitebots: Trick Racing?

No they didn't. All Nintendo Power said what to look forward to a special announcement. It was everyone else that made it sound like it was going to be the biggest news ever.

Well... not really excited, but the game looks pretty nice.

I mean, I still had a faint hope for it to be Mach Rider, StarTropics, Joy Mech Fight remakes/sequels...

But I guess this is alright. Assuming it won't be over 1000 poins. :P

I'll keep an eye on it.

@escher

THIS (the last sentence). Nintendo NEVER hyped it as "OMG MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON!!!!!!!" they just said "tune in to the Nintendo Channel for a little surprise." At least it's a Wiiware game, if it were retail I can only imagine the Internet exploding into a billion pieces of people who overhyped themselves and are having the overreaction of a lifetime (equal to that of the video of the kid who got his WoW account closed by his mom).

Anyway, the game looks good to me. I'm expecting the price to be somewhere around 1000 even. I'm probably gonna get this and Cadtlevania both on the same day (I've got to wait quite a while before I can get more points).

@Burgers

Forgot about you and your inside information. (are you being serious about that information or are you just trollin' us?) Well if you are telling the truth then I guess the other game will be announced later.

Am I the only one disappointed at the lack of motion controls? Tilting the remote left and right in the NES position to pull wheelies would have been awesome!

Color me excited!

This is the kind of game I was hoping for. We have 2 Marios coming, 2 Zeldas, and a Metroid. Plus we know Charles Just did more Mario voicework for an unannounced project. So I think we are covered when it comes to the 'big' Nintendo game department.

I'm so happy to see another revival of a series that means so much to me! Gonna be awesome!

I am serious about it. I know it sounds silly, but my brother-in-law has an uncle who works directly for one of Nintendo's studios. My bro even got a free game from him. So the info I am hiding away is pretty trustworthy, at least as far as I know. =)

So Nintendo takes the approach MS is doing...updating classic games to new standard....never the less...I think they sould do this with many more classics...and keeep releasing the classics...and do special promotions when releasing said updated classic..release the classic on VC and have the Mii Contest and Wii Contest/Check Mii out channel all related...just like they did with Star Wars....mhm
More like this please Nintendo...and er..might I say METROID UPDATED LIKE THIS AND MARIO BROTHERS!!!

DO IT!

This looks pretty decent actually. Nice to see Nintendo do something like this for once. Giving classic games updates for 2009 and add in some stuff here and there. Do more of this please, Nintendo.

And since the overall concept is so simple, NWC should handle this game pretty well when it comes to online play. Or so I hope.

Not a big fan of Excitebike, I always prefered the first two Motocross Maniacs games...released in the NES similar hardware: Gameboy and GBcolor by Konami. Well, this one could be worth a look.

I'm really happy with this. When I first played Excitebike, in Animal Crossing, I was impressed with the track editor. Now you can create your own tracks, play online, and you have the classic Excitebike gameplay with 2.5D graphics.

But I don't know what to think of all of these remixes. Yes, the big majority of them are great, but isn't it easy, just to take an old NES classic, and upgrade it to 2009's standards ? I'm not talking only of Nintendo (with PunchOut!!, this and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, even though NSMBW is more a long overdue sequel than a "rebirth"). There is also the rebirth series from Konami, and that new Sonic games from Sega. All of these games are/seems to be great. So the only way for developers to make great games nowadays is to remake older great games ?

By the way, if Miyamoto wants to make a "Mario 64" rebirth, I'm all in.

I like all this classic revival Nintendo is doing. We got NSMB Wii bringing back the classic Mario gameplay, Metroid Other M bringing Metroid back to a side scrolling + 2.5D excellence, and now Excite Bike.

Can't wait to see how they go about Donkey Kong's inevitable revival.

I don't think this is the game IGN was hyping up. It fits the description of being something no one was asking for or would expect, but it seems more like a straight up revival of the NES game. The IGN guy said the entire title was based around a single new concept that would either make or break the game, and I don't see how Nintendo could change the game.

In any case, I guess I'll be looking forward to this.

For people who refuse to buy another console, this is good news, since they don't have things like that.
