I liked Unleashed too [Wii], and am 23 no, minus the Day stages. Am not sure a 'MMIX' like approach will do any good with such a splintered fandom, though...
I also cried when the DC was pronounced dead.
It really was the one console to date that I was truly excited to get at launch.
I don't have time to watch the video right now, but what I understand, they pretty much are catering to the crybabies who claim that all 3D Sonics have been crap? Also, for anybody truly excited for this that hasn't enjoyed a Sonic game in years, why are you excited? The team that made Sonic 1, 2, 3&K no longer exists, the talent just isn't there, so what makes this anything more than just Sonic Unleashed in 2D?
SEGA hyping up the upcoming Sonic as the return to classic, great Sonic, the game sucks and doesn't live up to expectations, and the Sonic fans complain.
Maybe for the same reason other companies don't support Wii, they want HD Visuals, because HD Visuals makes a game reach 9.0+ in Ratings, or so they believe.
Aaaahahahahahaha... so they can't make games for both little kids AND people who actually want quality games? Then why does Nintendo pull it off so frequently...?
Well I loved Unleashed and I'm 21. Best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Adventure.
He probably said kids love Sonic Unleashed because of the rather kiddish plot, but then again everyone **** and moaned that the plots since Shadow were too serious. I'm still debating why people **** and moaned about Unleashed's plot when they listened not to make another plot that takes itself so seriously.
It's gotta be the plot, because I really can't see kids enjoying the difficulty in the Day stages.
Looks like they're finally splitting the franchise for the two generations. @COlimar788 Yea, sad isn't it? If this is SEGA's way of coming about that though, I'm not complaining as long as they deliver. @shihe SEGA dumped their past audience in favor of the new one, children. Also, we have no idea who is behind Project Needlemouse. Could possibly be in house SEGA or the new Sonic Team.
Since the game industry [as a whole] cuts out the expanded audience out of meaning much out of sheer ignorance, then yes, that's pretty much the truth. There is more traditional 'hardcore' gamers with just a or mostly using their PS360s if they follow that line of thought.
HD this and that, as well as online is all that many gamers care for these days.
That said, a Wii version of this will come out after the XBLA/PSN versions most likely.
I'm looking forward to hearing about the game. I think it'll be fun. @Tradint2000
Nothing wrong with making a video game look as good as possible. I mean, since they are video games, it's a good thing when they should try to be as pleasing and impressive to they eye as possible.
I loved Sonic Unleashed. Day stages were just amazing, and night stages weren't terrible.
I also love that it specifies "nostalgic fans" and not Sonic fans. Because it's quite true that those are two very different groups.
Being a Sonic fan, I'm not particularly excited about the idea of something that returns to the style of Sonic 2 or 3, after playing something amazing like Sonic Rush.
No, that's just wrong. You can't be a Sonic fan if you don't like most (read: half or more) of his games. Applies to anything, except maybe things that are much too general (like movies, a console's game library, etc).
Also, I'm not sure why you include yourself as a nostalgic fan.
EDIT: More succinctly, if you recently "discovered" something, then you could be a fan without needing to have positive experience with more than half of the existing material in that category. But if you did consider yourself a fan, I think you would seek out more material in that category with time.
I was highly disappointed in Unleashed (both versions), and from their comments it seems like they don't know the real reason why the series started to suck. I'm willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if it ends up being yet another mediocre Sonic game.
I thought Unleashed(for 360 at least) was good. I thought the day levels were fun and challenging. The night levels were aggravating, but playable. One of the best Sonic games in a while, that's for sure(along with the Advance and Rush games).
Ah, so it is confirmed, you either have to be mentally deranged or a child to enjoy the new Sonic games. *SIGH* and to think he wasted a slot in my Smash Bros. 9_9
I'm 19 and I enjoyed Sonic Unleashed, though technically speaking I was 18 when I got it and played through it (got the game for Christmas last year and my birthday's in March; doubt that's of any importance though ). Heck and it's the Wii version I own, too.
Anyway, looking forward to Needlemouse. I have a Wii and a 360 so I'll be able to get it no matter what.
All 3 versions of Unleashed were terrible. This is probably the only game where I say anyone who actually likes this game probably has a terrible taste in games.
I really didn't say that, its more of the people who say that ALL 3D Sonic games were crap. Not just the recent ones. I can understand why people would hate Sonic & The Black Knight or Sonic '06. Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 were quality games in their day (they aged badly, yes, but so did Mario 64 and Grand Theft Auto III). If Sonic Team learned from the mistakes from those games and built from it, instead of trying to reinvent the franchise with each game, they wouldn't be in the mess they are in right now.
Super Mario 64 has not aged badly at all. It had one of the best cameras of the time, and it still holds up well today. The platforming is solid, the controls are perfect.
@Qwerty P Danger You say all 3 versions stink, so that means you played all of them? For someone who hates the game, you sure did use a lot of your time playing the games.
I am sure there is a game that got average/horrible reviews that you liked.

People are crybabies for not liking the 3D games? ...
Kids love Sonic Unleashed.
Nobody loves Big the Cat.
=)
... B-but I love Big! He's just swell.
People on PSN and XBL love classic Sonic games.
So... take that as you will...
Well HD graphics were trumpeted with its announcement, so not surprising. It's just subtle marketing jizz.
A Wii version will probably come out after them sometime.
SEGA hyping up the upcoming Sonic as the return to classic, great Sonic, the game sucks and doesn't live up to expectations, and the Sonic fans complain.
Looks like its happening another time...
Also from the way he talks regarding the Project, I doubt it'll be on the Wii.
HEY PS3/360 FANS, I KNOW YOU LOVE SONIC SO HERE'S A CLASSIC STYLED GAME! YAY!
Oh and Wii owners? You're big "fans" of the new games so here's the s*** awful garbage we keep producing! HERE! SONIC WITH A SWORD LOL
WE'RE SMART HYUCK!
Arghhh f*** you Sega. Sonic 2 (i think) was one of the best selling VC games. (Somewhere in the top 20 maybe), so why are they excluding Wii fans?
And he seemed to mention Project Needlemouse only for PSN and Xbox Live.
Oh, good job SEGA, NOW you tell me Unleashed was for kids... e_e
Maybe for the same reason other companies don't support Wii, they want HD Visuals, because HD Visuals makes a game reach 9.0+ in Ratings, or so they believe.
From the sounds of the guy in the video, they probably just believe everything journalists tell them.
"Many journalists said "it sucks, it's boring" then again, they aren't my target audience."
Oh yeah.. that's why...
If this guy is behind Needlemouse too, then it's absolutely failing.
He probably said kids love Sonic Unleashed because of the rather kiddish plot, but then again everyone **** and moaned that the plots since Shadow were too serious. I was thinking of playing both Wii and PS3 version, but this only if I find them really cheap.
Really looking forward to Needlemouse!
How many times can you let a person trip you before you stop walking in front of them?
Because Sonic Team has proven that is not as consistent at delivering quality as Nintendo has.
And because is not the same making a game that appeals to kids and adults and one that tries to please kids and "nostalgic" Sonic fans.
But the good thing is that he seems to be aware of that.

I'm sorry, but it's usually the nostalgic fans that complain. Not the Sonic fans.
Nostalgic fans are just as much Sonic fans, we just don't agree with how the franchise has been handled recently.
Also, I enjoyed Unleashed as well.
Actually, yeah, that does make them smart. Game making isn't a charity service.

This.
None of us could. And I actually have 3D animation experience [unlike most of you].
Doesn't matter how well its dressed up. if they use that type of gameplay it sucks.
So don't mention project needlemouse and Unleashed in the same breadth!
Let's all just focus on the long overdue new 2d outing...
Wow. I would play that.
Anyway, looking forward to Needlemouse. I have a Wii and a 360 so I'll be able to get it no matter what.
I played the game. Daytime play was pretty fun. Nightime was AWFUL.
Needlemouse looks... strange

Seek new friends.
Just because it says HD graphics, doesn't mean it won't come to the Wii. Remember, the HD consoles take priority over the Wii for many developers.
