“We wanted to re-imagine not just Silent Hill, but the survival horror genre. We threw out all the rules and started fresh, asking ‘if we’d never played a survival horror game, and someone asked us to make one – what would THAT game be like?’ We wanted to have innovative mechanics, controls, and interesting gameplay. On the Silent Hill-specific front, we wanted to provide an entirely different experience from the first game. We also wanted to have an extra layer of "mind trip" for returning fans.” - Tomm Hulett, Producer
Now, if we could only get Konami to confirm a release date for us. I want to play this game before the year ends!

Story Feedback
Not sure, but it's cool to see even non-SH fans interested in this game. As a long time fan of the series, this game intrigues about as much as the original did before I played it in 2003 (okay so maybe I'm not as "long time" as other people [first game came out in 1999], but I own every main game so far). You don't even have to play the original to understand the story since the game's living up to it's subtitle by shattering any memories long time fans had of the first game, and of course while the basic premise and names of characters are still the same, the rest of the game is brand new, including the design of the town itself.
Man I can't wait to play this one. After Homecoming, I need something that will actually scare me (or at least get my heart racing) this time (I don't hate Homecoming [it's better than SH4, at least], and by itself it's actually not bad, but it's the least scariest game in the whole series).
It is, and don't worry. From the footage that's been shown so far, it seems to have the same atmosphere as previous Silent Hill titles.
The fog does seem to be there in the moments when it's "daylight." At night it's just snow fall and darkness. Funny how something that was really just written in as an excuse for the original game's poor draw distance has become a popular part of the series.
I'm curious to see if the Otherworld in this game evolves or stays the same throughout. In most games in just stays the same throughout (which up until now was a "blood and rust" themed Otherworld), but with the psyche profile it'd be interesting if some things other than the monsters changed when in the Otherworld.
