The article linked below has a lot to do with Demon Souls, a PS3 title. While the topic is that game, the discussion itself is all about difficulty in games. I think all of us struggle with finding the balance between difficult and impossible in games, which can be quite discouraging when playing. Some games are just too tough to enjoy, and others provide an immense amount of satisfaction when they present difficult situations. How do developers strike that balance?

Nice article overall. I do love challenge in most of my games. This is why I wish ALL Nintendo games had difficulty levels and settings. Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert, etc. Game like Galaxy and TP, it went with a 3-5 hits and you've defeated the enemy approach. You can keep games easy, I don't mind, but having the option for harder modes is greatly appreciated.

That said, I'm not against casual games, but they are more fun in short sessions as opposed to, for example, adventure games or RPG's or what have you.
