"My music is all throughout the game and I'm like the hardest character to get to so that game is basically like... my sh*t. And they want to give me two cents for a $50 game?!?!"
Yep, because your music you already recorded and likeness makes up a ton of the development costs, surely.
$25,000 is nothing, of course.
Sheesh. He wouldn't be so mad if he had sold any albums in the last 8 years.
Yeah you can see how 2 cents for every game isn't a good deal for him, but he is thinking of it like its his product and not just something he was slapped into.
Of course his share of this is nothing like his share would be if it were an album he made. Because it costs orders of magnitude more than his album to make and he didn't make it. Two very good reasons why he makes way less money.
Yea if you're like the owner of gonintendo, who can't see ANYTHING past video games, then you think its just another whiny musician.
First off, itunes gives 10 cents of the dollar for artist's tracks, I guess the video game industry does the same thing and with sites like rapidshare, which admittedly i'm guilty of, people can get DMX's music for free.
He sees none of it.
Seriously 2 cents out of 50 dollars. The disc is probably worth that amount in plastic.
Guess that rule applies to the video game industry also. His record company negotiate with the game company of course. He even admits he don't owns his own stuff.
Hey, if ur gonna cry about it, like what thevariant said, don't even take part in the project? It's not like it was a surprise to him of what he would be making lol, or maybe it is o.o
2 cents sounds like a reasonable deal for his likeness and music. The money should go to the developers, but after the retailer, publisher, licenser, record label and other artists have taken their cut that seems about right.
