Wow I don't care how bad people thought the game was. I was expecting and hoping for better then that. No Million but at least almost 500,000.

No one should really be surprised by The Conduit's numbers. It was definitely the most underwhelming game I've played this year.

Lol @ The Conduit =P

I think this proves that no matter how hyped a game is, if it sucks..it isn't going to sell well.

It's not too bad for a new IP to be honest though, especially when this is what? 3 months worth of sales? It was released on LATE June. July, August and September are where the sale data has come from according to the article)

Those are really good sales still, lots of better games don't sell half of the Conduit numbers.

@yomerodes

Yep. Take Dead Space Extraction for example.

...Seriously, ouch for EA. :X

VG Chartz has them at 280k, but yes it's quite underwhelming. Maybe it's ok for a new IP from a reborn developer though.

The number of units shipped is what matters in the end for the developers wallets, and I'm sure that was above 300,000.

I thought The Conduit was a good game, not an amazing one and probably not even a great one. It did pretty well for the reception and resources (funded almost completely by the developer, made in less than two years) the title got, and with their impressive engine it's all going to get brighter from here.

Pretty much this. I hope their next game is a big improvement. (The Grinder)

Pretty great looking sales for a new IP and also one that had a huge backlash from people who fell for the hype of "OMGoodness, BEST FPS EVAR, LOL COD4 SUX COMPARED TO THIS" Anyone with half a brain could've figured out that it wasn't going to be the "Holy grail" of FPSs for the Wii, but a great game nonetheless. Sad really. D:

I myself am having a fantastic time with the game! I play it almost every chance I get, so so great. ;D

@Freddy Fro

I find it as a nice stepping stone for motion controlled FPS. I never really expected it to be an AAA title thankfully.

Damn, now I sort of feel like playing it again.

Great sales for a new IP with such an uninspired art design.

Really? I think the sales for The Conduit are horrible. It's combined with Europe & North America. Kind of sad.

WTF @ Puyo Puyo 7 though. I'm depressed! :(

If you think nearly 300k is horrible, you should see just how many high profile games do on the 360 and PS3. And these are games which cost several times more to make than the Conduit did.

The funny thing is, we wouldn't be claiming GLOOM and DOOM if a HD game did these numbers.

You don't know that.. you're just saying that because you are bitter.

On topic: Both countries combined for The Conduit?.. I guess I shouldn't be surpirsed considering the game faired underhyped reviews and has issues with its main draw.

Nice to see people targeting the game's own merits as the reason for poor sales. I couldn't even get into the multiplayer...but that's mainly because I dislike FPS in general, and bought the game hoping it would get me to appreciate the genre (even with the great controls, it didn't).

I enjoyed The Conduit, and I'm glad to see it got decent sales, as it means there's a good chance for a sequel. Considering PS2-era games were profitable at around 100K-150K, 270K for Conduit is nothing to sneeze at.

They released 150k worldwide for launch, sold roughly double that amount without holiday season, hardly a failure.

EDIT: and as for dead Space extraction...

ON RAILS SHOOTER!!!

I just bought The Conduit yesterday! So add one to that number. I haven't played it though, but I was looking forward to it so I hope it delivers.

The single player is okay, but it doesn't really shine until the last few levels. The multiplayer is where the replayability is, though -- I've clocked over 100 hours in it already.

not that bad. Why did the reviews trash the solo mode so much , it was astonishing. I don't think anyone that buy fps nowadays really care for the story at all , it's all about the multi player modes. And IMO the conduit did not disappoint , many mode , maps, players . Easy and free to play ; i really don't get what the fuss is all about . I just honestly don't know what is lacking from that compare to the other two. Sure there are connection bugs and cheaters , but really once you get to a good game , it's really nice. I wish there were an easy to setup a match between friends and fill the remaining slot by others.

In fact i did try warhawk , but the slow oh so slow aiming coupled with some bugs , all of that made me stop pretty quickly. Hardcore gamers talk about slow turning in the conduit but really i just don't see it, especially compared to hardcore darling games. so so slow and imprecise.

i hope high voltage release the only coop fps on with the grinder. It should sell more ... maybe .
My fps need to be pointer based , it helps me prepare for some hardcore pointing game like trauma center or sin and punishment2.

@NeroSuferoth

I can't believe nobody else noticed this. "Both COUNTRIES"? :P since when is Europe a country?

Anyhow, yeah, those are pretty underwhelming sales for someone who was hoping to reach one million (speaking on behalf of HVS). The game may continue to sell, though. It's, so far, the only Wii FPS that supports voice-chat. And that's still something.
