November 3, 2009 by RawmeatCowboy Filed Under: Nintendo in general

"Even though the figures for the consolidated business performance for the six months ended September 30, 2009 were approximate to the projected ones in all segments, net revenues and profits of the consolidated interim results are expected to decrease when compared with the figures corresponding to September 30, 2008, mainly due to factors such as the fact that main titles released by our Digital Entertainment segment for the current fiscal year were not scheduled to be released until the second half of the year while in the same period last year major titles, in particular, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, had already been released." - Konami statement

Konami loves when a new Metal Gear Solid game hits consoles, and when that isn't happening, the company is hurting!

This is what happens when the only games that make you money are Silent Hill, Castlevania, Metal Gear and DDR.

And then...

Silent Hill gets delayed.
You make Judgment.
Metal Gear comes out once every thousand years.
DDR fad died and everyone's into Guitar Hero/Rock Band.

Remember when Konami had more games than Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania to fall back on?

Bring back Contra, Frogger, The Simpsons, etc. Make DDR popular again. Bring back your old music rhythm games (not Rock Revolution) and actually do something innovative.

And there is a new Metal Gear Solid game... "Peace Walker" for the PSP. It is a direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Hey! Bring back Contra? Contra 4 for the DS is perfect (and I love the difficulty). We can't forget about Contra Rebirth on Wiiware.

A new contra game for the DS would be awesome :D

I take're doing fine as far as downloadable titles are concerned. Contra Rebirth was very strong in the US.

But they've been playing it too safe for the last two years. Their DS lineup is good in my eyes, just not necessarily the titles I want to play for an eternity.
I just wish their early Wii titles (games directed by Shingo Mukaitoge) would have been more successful.

Whatever happened to the old Konami from the NES/SNES days?

I'd love to see a new Stinger/Twinbee game, or just some of the cool platform or shooter games they were so well-known for. More Contra? Rocket Knight Adventures? Snatcher? Goonies? I bet they're missing the TMNT license now....

The party game/pet sim bubble is going to burst one day, and it's going to leave a lot of companies hurting once it does.

They seriously wrecked DDR. I shouldn't have to use Stepmania to dance to all of the songs I can dance to in every DDR I own. I can't believe they failed to turn DDR into a real sales platform the 360. Heck they should release a DDR for the big 3 with a dlc store similar to Rockbands. Let us transfer our downloads and songs from old discs to new games. Don't weaken your product.
