It takes its cues from the best parts of the older Mario games

How do you pay tribute to Mario games, all while trying to make the best one? Well, you take the fantastic parts from all the others and cram them into a new game! I can't wait to see all the homages that New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers up for long-time fans of the Mario series.

One level in particular has you riding moving platforms over lava -- platforms which you control by tilting the Wii remote. As you navigate, you'll also have to avoid Bob-ombs that constantly parachute into the level, massive geysers of fire that erupt from the magma below, and dive-bombing crows that hover at the top of the stage before swooping down and strafing at Mario in clusters of two or three. However you choose to play it, and no matter how good you are, this sort of thing makes for tense, sweaty-palmed challenge. And that's hardly the trickiest situation the game has to offer....

There is hope for me. YAY!

The game will get leaked before the release date, and people will be spoiling every last detail. The moment there's a scene release, you better avoid any and all gaming sites :)

That snow level with the penguin suit looks like the skiing parts of Yoshi's Island.

I'm watching an interview with Charles Martinet, and my God he is so cool! I want to meet him so bad!

He keeps explaining how he created the Mario voice, but it never gets old!

Such a kooky, yet funny guy.

@Artistic_Anarchy

I'm psyched that you're so excited for this game! I am too! Woo!

@D3stiny_Sm4sher

That's pretty homage-y right there. Good eye.

It reminds me of the snow level of MSB3.

Dude....this game is going to be so incredibly bad ass, that I seriously think it might cause awesomeness induced seizures.

When they first revealed this, I was like "Oh....what, 4 player Mario?", and basically assumed as many did that it was just an updated, 4 player version of the DS game, which while cool, didn't really draw me in that much.

But once I found out it was a 100% original game, and that the game was developed as a single player experience like the old ones, but just so HAPPENED To also have 4 player, I thought YES!!!

Then when I found out that it was going to FINALLY have the Koopa Kids back, and that Bowser Jr. was just going to have a minor role, I cried out in joy.

Now, with all this info, I've gotta say.......Game of the F***ing Year for this guy. For sure.

You might as well just officially call this baby Super Mario Bros. 5, because it looks like that's what it is, more so than any other Mario that has come out since World (SMB4).
