While the official deal hasn't been inked just yet, we've heard bits and pieces of THQ's intention to continue working with the WWE on creating a line of video games. Today during THQ's conference call to discuss earnings, THQ CEO Brian Farrell reconfirmed that things are being ironed out right now. Mr. Farrell also stated that THQ plans on building the WWE franchise up, and they have ideas "currently in the works".

Eh, I was kinda hoping for EA to get the rights, if they still have AKI under their belts. I don't feel like sitting around and wishing that the next wrestling game is going to be decent.

Too bad the games will never be as good as Wrestlemania 2000 or Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain. I've played a couple of the Smackdown vs. Raw games, and honestly, they're just not the same.

What I wish they'd do, is drop all the stupid wannabe "storylines", and focus purely on the WRESTLING. All these years, and they still haven't managed to really improve upon what they first did with Wrestlemania 2000. The games have sped up a bit, but that's likely do to more powerful hardware, and not THQ improving the formula.

I spent hours upon hours playing WM2000 back in the day, and creating characters. It was awesome, even with it's limitations.

Oh boy, another year getting a gimped version on the Wii. I'll keep passing on the games until we get the full game in terms of features.

Thank goodness for WWF No Mercy, still haven't made a game that good.

@XCWarrior

yeah once they start making games that surpass No Mercy I'll be back. Hell I want games that were as good as The Wrestlemania challenge for NES.

the last wrestling game i played for wii was one of the Smackdown vs raw games and let's just say that waggle combos aren't a good gameplay mechanic.
