I find it interesting that Epic Mickey is bringing back this idea of the "classic" cartoon style, because you can definitely tell the influence it had on Miyamoto in the concept art for Donkey Kong (it was a take-off of the 1930's own King Kong, after all) and even his own doodles. I know he loved going to the theater to watch classic Disney movies when he was young, too.

So yeah, this piece captures the essence of Donkey Kong really well.


Right now I'm playing through Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu again, and I really dig the old-school anime art style. Everyone has '80s hair. :P Oh, nostalgia...
