Great sales on the first two, yet still kinda expected (Dragon Quest is the king of RPGs in Japan, and Monster Hunter's had consistant popularity over there since the original). Looks like Okami's not fairing much better than before. Hopefully the sequel will turn things around since the DS is far more popular worldwide.

Monster Hunter Tri should easily break 1 million worldwide sales when released in NA and Europe. Possibly 1.1 mil.

@Game_Locks

But will Capcom be able to sell a million in Japan alone? It would be great PR and marketing to say "our game is the first third-party Wii game to sell, not ship, a million copies."

@Eternal Rain

I don't know man, Okami has sold 280K+ in Europe and the US [as of July 08], so that's about 500K combined now?

Now, I don't know how much Okami cost to make in total [so I could be talkin' crap here], but I think its a decent effort, especially considering the likes of Madworld, TC, DS:E [and other titles] sales this year.

MH3 will have a million in Japan by the new year also I bet!

Yeah, definitely. It is still sold full price on most stores, which is surprising in Japan lately. A price cut would spur some nice sales. It only needs 70K to get there.

@Chosenoneknuckles
The mentioned games cost less, definitely. Still, every sale for Okami is a bonus, considering that they already failed when it came out on PS2. Now, they are recouping port expenses (which were minimum).

Those Monster Hunter 3 sales are nice, but the PSP versions are selling and have sold much, much better than that. Is it because it's a 'hardcore' game, it has a fee to play online, and Japan digs portables?
