Have you been wondering why North America's E-Tank drink can looks like this...
Instead of the Japanese design?
Well, a Boston America rep has stepped in to discuss why the design choice was made.
"I understand why that Japanese version had such a tremendous appeal to the hard core Megaman fan but when we showed this to the buyers here in the US they didn’t know if the majority of their customers would understand the product." - Boston America rep
So...is Boston America saying that anyone but Mega Man fans are going to buy this drink in the first place?!

The new can is stupid. Only the most dedicated of megaman fans will buy it now.

Yep, I very much prefer the japanese design.
I wonder if the energy drink itself is good, though.

This reminds me of those terrible Halloween costumes were you had a mask and a shirt with a picture of the character with their name written on it. The costume loses all appeal because the company needs to make 00% sure that everyone "gets it."

It's a geek-centric product. Of course they'd know the image the second they saw it.
I think they've just achieved the opposite effect than they intended.

Talk about a lack of logic. With the original design it'd sell to anyone that likes to at least try new energy drinks. Since it is really classy looking and not about as much an insult visually as the comment is to Mega Man players.

Couldn't they have at LEAST had the E-Tank design on ONE side of the can??

Ahahaha how incredibly stupid. Noweven fewer people will buy it since, iirc, it supposedly tasted bad and the Mega Man fans will just think it's lame without the real design. The kicker? Now we won't get anything similar products to come out in America because of that... sigh.

we showed the drink to the elderly, who overwhelmingly voted that the design sucked

It was a marketing decision...
It kinda loses its purpose tbh...
