Seems like Deux's first day on the job went well. Glad to see you guys enjoyed his work! Also, thanks for all the fan-made banners for Deux! He couldn't be happier, trust me! Glad we could all make his day. On that note, I'm off to bed! I'll see you all in a few, short hours.
I can't believe that New Super Mario Bros. Wii is just around the corner. It feels like I was back at E3 for the announcement just yesterday. I also remember thinking that the launch would seem like a million years for now. Lucky for me, the time decided to fly by! That is, until this past couple of weeks. I swear, time seems to have slowed to a halt. When I can barely make it through a day without thinking about the game, I know I want it bad.
Making the wait even worse would have to be all the coverage that's coming out. For the last week or so, there has been an insane amount of video coverage for the title. I bet you could watch the entire game, start to finish, if you just hunted around YouTube long enough. Talk about spoilers! If you've been watching all the videos we've posted, there's not much left to the game to learn! You'll just be going through the motions when you pick it up.
With all this coverage, I've been wondering how you guys have been dealing with it. Did you decide to go on a self-imposed NSMBW media blackout a few weeks back? Perhaps you've embraced all the video footage, and still can't wait to get your copy. I'm sure there's some middle-of-the-road people as well. Leave a comment and let us know how you've been fighting the urge!
Story Feedback
I am, I havent seen anything from it other than the first E3 trailer lol
I cannot freaking wait for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Going to be so awesome!
Next time, please post spoiler-filled videos behind the jump, just for the sake of your fans.
It's one thing, to be spoiled about stories and major things in games (moreso if they happen later in a game; Like Temple of Time in TP), but a Mario game that isn't an RPG, especially a classic-style one, is hard for me to consider anything a spoiler unless there's a boss that is new and exciting.
I haven't seen every level, but I know the themes for all of theme, I know what the last world looks like and all the levels in it, I know the final boss and I know what all the boss fights are, and I know some of the unlockables/extras in the game (which, is laughable to really call most of them anything).
Also, to be fair, I didn't like the game until just a month ago. I was totally UNhyped for the game.
Let's hope the same happens with Galaxy 2.
But I'm not watching that final boss vid.
The game is set for the 15th (Sunday). Is it actually coming out ON a Sunday, or is that some crazy ship date?
Did you decide to go on a self-imposed NSMBW media blackout a few weeks back?
That's exactly what I did, actually. I still haven't seen any of the koopa kids in action yet, or even the official art for them.
and I still dont know what is the 7th and 8th and 9th worlds are!
They usally send it a week or so in advance of release date so all stores(that actually carry it, that is) will have it by then or soon after(tuesday, usally)
I'm also glad I've been avoiding all the spoiler stuff lately on the net since there's a ton of spoiler stuff about the game hitting the net like crazy.
And finding out anything new about the game is a spoiler, really.
So, I've avoided spoilers in anything post-World 1 that wasn't in a trailer/site video or review, besides a playthrough of some World 5 or something level that was in a trailer anyway. Given it's a Mario platformer, I'll either be spoiled right when it's out, or people won't say much as you'll be expected to know.
I'm sure the game would still be a lot of fun either way, but it always kills the impact of the surprise elements that are typically plastered all over the web days before you even get your hands on the title.
I will maintain my spoiler free status until I can play it for myself.
Not that the story is super great or important, but I want to experience the levels and bosses for myself.
Picking NSBW up first day and plan to play all day.
Regretfully, thanks to someone, I know how Bowser's final stage looks like.
My God, what if you fight BOWSER at some point, towards the end, or something? I'd hate to ruin the experience for myself by knowing these things.
xD
Seriously, though, I've watch some footage, not most. Not because I care about spoiling a game that's really kind of more about gameplay than anything else but because I don't feel like watching too much of the game, I feel like playing it. It's a case where watching it feels like I'm taunting myself, not spoiling myself.
I did watch the 1Up Game Night last night, though. That was pretty freakin' awesome because it really gave you a feel for what the 4-player is like with other people all together.
As for anyone complaining about RMC posting spoilers? He's just doing his job, some people WANT to see it since it IS Nintendo content.
If you don't want to see anything, when the title says "FINAL BOSS BATTLE" in frickin' CAPS, it's not his fault it's not "after the bump" it's YOUR fault for, gee, watching it?
This is a rare time when a traditional side-scrolling Mario game is new. How many people know exactly where every hidden exit is on the first few levels of Super Mario World? Where the flutes are in SMB3? Sure, the game's are fun enough to play over and over, but it's not quite the same the first time around.
I just want to see it with fresh eyes when I get it. It isn't so much about avoiding 'spoilers' as it is to avoid me becoming familiar with the game's levels before I even play the game. You only get one chance for it to be new for you, and I'd rather it be from playing the game instead of just watching it.
The game's only a few days away. It shouldn't be a problem for me to just avoid watching things for a bit. I'm sure I'll have to avoid watching IGN's Video Review, though, since they always get a kick out of showing 'spoiler' details right at the last moments. (I think the last one was probably Smash Brothers characters or Mario Kart Wii or something similar to that.)
I havnt even watched the intro video ;D
P.S.
Zelda dies at the BEGINNING of Spirit Tracks. That's just for you super anti-"spoiler" nazis out there. If it's in the Nintendo-approved, prerelease info, its not a spoiler dammit.
I think i never saw footage after world 4.. or 5..
When i played Galaxy i watched all footage available, and while playing it i was surprised a lot of times.
I think for NSMBW i saw the right amount of content.
Also, since this seems to be a popular thread: HOTEL DUSK SEQUEL WAS JUST ANNOUNCED!
@WiiFolder
You'll be happy to know, if you didn't watch the video, all the frozen image spoils is the room. It doesn't actually show anything about the boss fight.
Glad i did that , super mario galaxy was much sweeter that way .
The guy playing is currently in the middle of World 3. From the footage I am watching, it sure looks challenging. Much harder than Super Mario World.
I'd hate to see what Worlds 7 and 8 are like...
