It's been awhile since we've heard from High Voltage, hasn't it? It looks like that silence may soon end, as one High Voltage employee is teasing a big announcement soon.

Actually, I take that back. The employee has said that big announcements are coming soon. Whether these pertain to The Grinder, Gladiator A.D. or something else altogether remains to be seen. Thanks to Prem for the heads up!

I hope it's not layoffs. As much as they talked about The Conduit before it released, I've really been surprised that there's been little to no information on The Grinder and Gladiator A.D. since July.

I agree. I'm looking forward to The Grinder especially...but I really hope The Grinder's vampire have more detail than the original build.

If you don't appreciate these guys you don't appreciate the Wii.

HVS, feel free to bring it.

@The_Dude1212

Given that it was a VERY early build of the game (they said they worked on it for a few months before they showed the video), it's likely they'll improve the graphics.

The Grinder seems to be more fun than The Conduit.

HVS missed Metroid Prime... all Nintendo games have a steady solid 60 fps framerate, The Conduit struggled like a PS360 game with around 30 fps and under... too bad sorry!

@Dr_Peace

I don't agree with that.

I appreciate good quality games. Not games that take advantage visually and controls wise of a system but lack cohesive direction and just overall are not quality titles.

I wouldn't be so down on HVS if they hadn't hyped the Conduit to hell and back, only for it to settle as a decent at best 70% game.

I still haven't finished the Conduit. The story just didn't grab me. But the play mechanic worked for me (especially as I am used to KBM on the PC) and I still boot up some of the levels I enjoyed for fun.

The game reminded me of Sin Episode 1.

I hope HVS can build on the Promise.

@Burgers

I consider the game to be 'good quality', and last I checked 70% (less than I would give it) is still above average by quite a margin. I also appreciate the fact that not all games (or anything really) are born equal, HVS do not have Nintendo-sized wallets, and what they achieved (that being destroying the Wii's misconceptions single handedly) with the resources they had is nothing short of astounding.

Hyped to hell and back? For you maybe, but for me (and I practically stalked this game since it was unvieled) it did exactly what was promised; that being amazing controls, brilliant graphics technology and a great online experience. The 'direction' was plenty cohesive, if a few textures looked poor then that is simply a question of polish, nothing more.

@McDaniel-77

All of the 3D Zelda games run at 30 FPS mark, are they suddenly bad now?

It only matters for games that actually have a fast pace (like racing games), or frame specific games (like the fighting genre).

Loved the Conduit, and I'm extremely looking forward to reading the comment section of articles about the Grinder where people like Burgers post trashing the game rather than commenting on games he likes.

This is sarcasm.

Seriously though, Burgers, I really value your opinion and appreciate your personal insight and whatnot, but I'm just tired of going into the comment section of games like the Conduit where all I see is hate and total downers about a game I happened to enjoy. I mean, of course I'm not saying that you shouldn't put your opinion out there, but it seems to me like you've commented on a ton of Conduit articles saying something about you dislike the game or how much you didn't like about some feature or whatever. All I'm asking is that as a fellow Wii-owner and Gonintendoer, could you lay off the hate a bit? A little less negativity goes a long way. ;D

Thanks, bud! :D

Fro~

@Dr_Peace

I completely agree as well, and while I would say it's an 8/10 if we're using a scoring system here, but otherwise. I've been saying this for a while when people say stuff about how it's not the "holy grail of Wii FPS gaming that HVS promised." Honestly people? If you did follow it well and actually researched it without reading a message board with a bunch of people going "zomg goty lololol" you'd know that it wasn't going to be a 10/10 game, but a great/good game nonetheless. They set themselves up for disappointment, plain and simple.

I've had the chance to play through the L4D2 demo over the past couple weeks, and if The Grinder can pull off a similar experience online, then it could warrant my purchase.

That being said, it's going to be tougher to sell a FPS to me since TC. That game taught me everything I needed to know about the gaming world.

@Dr Peace and Burgers

gotta side with burgers on this one. i wouldn't even give it the 70% that you did. conduit is a broken piece of garbage. i booted up a couple of days ago, and proceeded to wait 20min before entering a match. once i was in the match, the framerate dropped to a crawl, and the other players did their disappearing act bs. oh, then someone started firing rockets in clusters of ten. anybody who says they enjoy this game has bad taste, sorry guys, but it's true.

as for myself, i'm DYING for a real fps experience on wii, just not from hvs. don't give a eff about hvs and their announcement, because they're hacks trying to hype their new crap title.

as for letting off the negativity, no way. conduit and hvs are completely deserving of ALL the net hate they receive. anyone who thinks otherwise, feel free to trade me your copy of punch out (which i passed up for this crap game), for the conduit collector ed i can't seem to get rid of. no takers? that's what i thought. suck it hvs

Understood, man. I'll try to cool it on that front, and a couple others. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

HVS did overhype, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean everything they make will be underwhelming, too. We'll see what the announcement says.

And of course, I don't mind that people have fun with The Conduit, even if I don't like it. =)

The Grinder is much needed on the Wii. Considering the PS3 doesn't have a game like this and also the Wii.

If I had a 360, I would haev L4D, but since I have PS3 and Wii, Grinder is gonna be great.

I agree The Conduit was over hyped like a typical PS360 game.

I loved the online multiplayer though. Right now, from the Nintendo channel, it's sitting as my 3rd most played game behind Brawl and having only an hour less than Guitar Hero 3.

Oh and I'm looking forward to The Grinder. I hope the character with a sword will have controls like Swordplay Showdown, that would seriously rock.

@bobyoko

No, they do not need that hate.

I got to meet them at E3 and they are some really cool people who, considering that they are a dev studio that was relatively unknown, and had little money, did a hell of a job on what they accomplished with The Conduit.

And ya, in the end it may have been a bit of a disappointment, but really, the online sucking is not their fault. Its Nintendo who decided how the matchmaking works and hack prevention. If Nintendo didn't have such a s*** online service the online functions of TC would be more then fine.

I know this because I got some hands on experience with the online when it was being run by HVS tech. And guess what, the framerate was a consistent 30 frames and matchmaking took about 30 seconds. Nintendos tech sucks, not HVS's.

---

As for the Grinder, the tech demo for it looks so much better when you see it in motion (as I did at E3) then when you just watch it online, and it was only 3 months into development at the time. If they can convince Nintendo to give them more wiggle room with online structuring we will have a success on our hands. Maybe a system like Medal of Honour Heroes 2 had.

Let me just tell you that I haven't even considered buying Punch-Out and I own the The Conduit which I've enjoyed many times and I'm never gonna sell it(unless I sell my Wii)!!

Sure,the game has flaws and it's far from excellence but it deserves a solid 8,at least!
The game DID deliver everything that was hyped for!
Best graphics on Wii:check
Awesome controls:check
High levels of customization:check
Awesome online experience:check(minus the hackers and some rare glitches)

And as for the online part:

1)Fix ur internet connection,this game runs smoothly!
2)Ignore the hackers(which are only few and they'll leave after a single match)
3)It's the best online experience on Wii!..even better than MK Wii!!Well,at least after you manage to enter a game without the spawning glitch...

We haven't heard anything about Animales de la Muerte since the decision to distribute via retail. The concept and it's similarities with Zombies Ate My Neighbors are just too good to keep as a wiiware title. A summer release would help this Conduit player better cope with The Grinder's late 2010 or early 2011 release date.

@MrHealthy

still disagree, but point taken. doesn't change the fact that they couldn't back their massive hype, and the fact that even without the online problems that the game doesn't live up to the hype.

i do understand that big n's online system is lacking, without doubt. but there has been no word at all about a fix. so, am i to assume that a proper online experience can't be had on wii? mariokart runs pretty well... bottom line, the game doesn't work, and who else is to blame but the developer? kudo's on the graphic, tho.

@bobyoko

Oh for sure the game didn't live up to the massive hype. Its definitely not a stellar game, just doesn't deserve the hate. And the story, was, well bad.

As for mariokart, sure it works better, but thats because online racers are easier to make, doesn't have to calculate positions of nearly as many things at once, because its all on a set course. But I digress. Oh, and Mariokart has hackers too, just not as noticeable.

The problem with TCon was its hype. Other than that, it was an OK game, too bad about online waiting times and the glitches/hackers.

However, it set the standard for FPS controls on the Wii, that is a certainty. Therefore, I look forward to these HVS announcements.

well except for the coloassal problem of the hackers apparently fueled by the usual nintendo hate from the hardcore gamers ... well that was a great game till recently now . Never care for the adventure , of course now i suppose i could finish it . The game looks better than cod mw reflex imo.

at least coop game should not suffer that same fate , so the grinder looks nice to me . And its only competition is that recently announced nintendo cero D game.

could someone post a link , hopefully to the official site , where cheaters can be at least publicized.

How about a news item RMC

I love The Conduit. I also love COD Reflex.

I don't know if i have said if one looks better than the other..if I have scrap what I said.(you can't really compare them)

On is PORT.
The other was DEVELOPED FROM THE GROUND UP for Wii hardware.

Every Wii game(espeacially FPS action ones) should out do the best looking games on Xbox1: to name some Black, Doom, Haflife and Far Cry.

I am uncertain what to think about High Voltage big announcements...

I look forward to it though.

I wonder if they are really going to wring the neck of the Wii and show the world(and all those hardcore, power, HD fanatic gamers who hate the Wii's guts...what it really is all about from the start)
