Don't be hatin' RMC. Now I don't have to use a genesis emulator on my DS! I like this, though I can think of some Sega collections I'd rather have over this. But I like Sonic, so it's good. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is something I'd wouldn't mind carrying with me. They should also include Blue Sphere.

I have the Gamecube Sonic collection, but I never play it because it's just not right on a Gamecube controller. The DS, on the other hand, could be a good fit for these games.

I wish this list had more more games, like Sonic CD, Sonic Chaotix, and the Gamegear Sonics. But it'll probably be a budget title, so whatever.

Well, crap. Yup, I'll be buying the hell out of this. Now if only Sega would work on accepting the fact that they should publish that new DS Toejam & Earl!

Honestly, the only Genesis games I'd really want to play on my DS are Streets of Rage 2 and Shining Force 2. But I'll still probably get this, if only to support development of more Dimps Sonic games. Though I really wish they'd stop trying to push Chronicles.

Excited.

Fact is, I don't know why anyone would buy most games on Virtual Console. This will most likely be much cheaper than buying all of those games on VC.

@MoldyClay

Agreed.

I also don't get why people would buy most Genesis games on VC when you can get Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for $30. If you add up the money to buy all of the games on that one disc on VC, you would easily have enough money for a PS3 or 360.

This is great! My Genesis has finally laid down and died. It turns on about 1 out of every 90 tries.

And yes! @Hongo, @argus I'd like to echo both of your comments.

SEGA sure loves doing their Sonic collections everywhere they can.

I might buy this if the emulation is good.

Well, I just bought a Sega Nomad recently--along with working cartridge versions of all of the above games, so this is not a high priority. Cool for DS-owning Sonic fans though!

Cash in? Couldn't you then call all comps cash ins?

@diego_jose

No, *each* game would cost that much, this will be much better value! The VC games are more of a cash in than this!

Ironically, there was a Genesis emulator for DS called JenesisDS. Damn good one too, ran all seperate Sonics 98% perfectly. Strangely, the coder, Lordus, disappeared about a year ago. Perhaps Sega hired him to make an official emulation on DS. They actually did that with Steven Snake and his old emulator Kgen (IIRC) for the Sega Smash Pack. He later made new emulators, one of which is considered the best available (KEGA Fusion).

So, all of the Genesis side-scrollers, portable? If it plays well (unlike Sonic 1 on GBA), then this is a definite buy.

@Granville

From what my friend has told me (he knows a crapload of things about things like this), the JenesisDS guy was hired by SEGA. Big chance it's for this collection.

Still guys/gals, what makes anyone think this is a DS collection? I see no source besides plain speculation that it is for DS at all. In fact, the only thing I see related to DS is the Sonic Chronicles video. That's just a video too... It's not like they couldn't release something like this for the Wii or PC or something else.
