November 18, 2009 by RawmeatCowboy Filed Under: Nintendo in general

“What I’m most concerned about is that the game creator foundation is starting to become exhausted in a sense, because there aren’t as many younger creators that are aspiring to become developers. But now Nintendo is practically the only console manufacturer based in Japan…so the console manufacturer as a hub is now missing.” - Square-Enix president, Yoichi Wada

Mr. Wada is pretty right about Japan. Sony does their console stuff all over the world, while Nintendo keeps their hardware aspects located in Japan. I don't know that that will ever change, and Square-Enix is obviously isn't too keen on it.

What? If Nintendo is there, a console manufacturer as a hub isn't missing. What is missing is any will to develop for the Wii from Wada.

Weird statement coming from the president of the dev company that's still putting the new numbered titles on anything but a Nintendo system. Crystal Bearers looks awesome, but lets face it... XIII's gonna sell miles more. I at least hope Crystal Bearers sells decently enough to please Square so they won't become a whiny "core gamez don't sell on wii as evidenced by this one single title" companies.

Translation: we don't want to work on the Wii because we can't control it.

so really everything but nintendo , that's sad . The reality of japan though is that only nintendo made games sales so unless you work for them ... but apparently nintendo is willing to publish almost anything , it's really more about their unwillingness

You just can't blame the young devs, when the industry has created such a hazardous environment for them to work into. Folks spend years working day and night, and when the project is completed they are dumped away. Who wants to be the game industry b****?
